1 Councilmember Makowske indicated there is a welcome diversity in the • <br /> 2 Society membership, with various aspects of the Village history <br /> 3 represented, including people who have expertise in working with photos <br /> 4 and others who are working on histories of the types of people who first <br /> 5 came to this area, etc. She said the next thing she hoped would be done <br /> 6 would be to have someone other than herself take over the leadership of <br /> 7 the Committee, for which she just doesn't have time. The Councilmember <br /> 8 concluded her report by passing around a copy of the Greenpeace <br /> 9 magazine, which a member of that group had brought to her door that day. <br /> 10 She said the Councilmembers -might be interested in several articles in <br /> 11 the magazine, particularly the one opposing garbage incinerators. Mr. <br /> 12 Childs told her the City has a letter from the Attorney General which <br /> 13 gives the group permission to solicit donations in St. Anthony. <br /> 14 Mayor Sundland Participant in Cable Program Filmed by St. Anthony Middle <br /> 15 School Students <br /> 16 The Mayor said he had been interviewed that morning by seventh and <br /> 17 eighth grade students who are studying cable and television filming. <br /> 18 He said the interviewers were very professional and he enjoyed <br /> 19 participating very much. A volunteer reported the sixth grade students <br /> 20 in the class were participating in the City Police Department Ride Along <br /> 21 Program during which they were interviewing the officers in the squad <br /> 22 cars. The volunteer indicated she thought it was great that the <br /> 23 students were allowed to conduct these interviews and to utilize not <br /> 24 only the school's equipment, but also the cable company's equipment. <br /> 25 She indicated the programs would be shown on the local public access <br /> 26 cable channels sometime in April. The program would be publicized in <br /> 27 advance of its showing, she added. <br /> 28 Vague of Minnesota Cities Conference for Newly Elected Officials <br /> 29 Reported by Councilmember Ranallo <br /> 30 The Councilmember reported that the Women in City Government <br /> 31 Organization had met the evening before the conference, which was held <br /> 32 February 3rd and 4th. He said he had served as the Mayor in a mock <br /> 33 presentation of a public hearing conducted by Barb Arney. <br /> 34 Plans for "Celebrate Minnesota 1990" Progressing with Additional Project <br /> 35 Grants to be Available <br /> 36 Councilmember Ranallo announced the above and reported there would be <br /> 37 VCR tapes as well as speakers available for cities to learn more about <br /> 38 the event and what is expected from each community. He said one of the <br /> 39 projects would be a Minnesota Mayors Clean Up the Riverbanks promotion. <br /> 40 Dorothy Thorson VillageFest Co-Chair Reports Committee's Decision to <br /> 41 Have Float Professionally Constructed <br /> 42 Ms. Thorson reported she and her husband, Tom, would be co-chairing the <br /> 43 July event along with Rick Lundeen and his wife.
