ORDINANCE NO. <br /> • AN ORDINANCE REGULATING AND PRESCRIBING <br /> PROCEDURE FOR ISSUANCE OF SIGN PERMIT. <br /> PURPOSE <br /> The purpose of this ordinance is to provide for necessary visual communica- <br /> tion to preserve and promote a pleasant physical environment to protect public <br /> and private property, and to encourage safety upon the streets and highways <br /> within the Village of St. Anthony, by regulating the type, number, structure, size, <br /> location, height, lighting and the erecting and maintenance of all sign and <br /> sign structures within said Village. <br /> DEFINITIONS <br /> Advertising Sign <br /> A sign which attracts attention to any person, place, service, item or <br /> activity. <br /> Billboard Sign <br /> An advertising sign located off the premises where the advertised product <br /> is sold or offered. <br /> Business and Identification Signs <br /> Any sign which directs attention to an occupancy entertainment, service, <br /> profession, business, or activity conducted upon the premises. <br /> Banner Sign <br /> To include all banners pennants, or similar display <br /> signs. <br /> Identification Sign <br /> A sign, the primary function of which is to identify a <br /> commercial , industrial , or public or semi-public use located upon the premises <br /> where such sign is located, or to which such sign is affixed. Signs identifying <br /> commercial uses may call attention to the product, service, or activity that <br /> is sold or offered upon the premises. Signs identifying industrial uses may <br /> call attention to the product, goods or material which is produced, processed, <br /> assembled or stored upon the premises. <br /> Pylon Sinn <br /> Any free standing sign not attached or affixed in any manner to any structure <br /> or object. <br /> Roof Sign <br /> Any sign projecting above th.e eave line of a structure to which it is <br /> affixed. <br /> Illumina�—'d Siqn <br /> A sic^ illuminated in any manner either internally, externally, or re- <br /> flectively, so as to attract attention by producing a greater degree of <br /> illuminaAion than nature. <br /> Flashing Sign <br /> Any illuminates: sign on which the artificial light is not maintained <br /> constant in intensity and color at all times when such sign is in use. <br />
