Zoning Variations
Mr. Ablert Villella presented his request for a Public Hearing to rezone
property at 3913 Fordham Drive (Lot 4, Bl . 4, Moundsview Acres, 2nd Add. )
presently zoned R-1 single family to R-2 two family and to divide said property
into three lots.
After considerable discussion, upon motion by Katterheinrich, seconded by
Miedtke, it was moved to hold a Public Hearing on August 16, 1966, 7:30 P.M.
(the next regular meeting) to further discuss the zoning and subdivision of
this property.
Voting on the Motion:
Aye : Katterheinrich, Miedtke, Kronk
Nay: Mesenbring, Howitz
The Motion Carried.
• 7. Old Business
A. Mr. Walbon of Walbon Excavating Co. at 3242 Highway #8 requested a
building permit for "remodeling and alteration improvements" to their noncon-
forming building.
The Board discussed the dangers of extending the life of nonconforming uses,
but feels improving the appearance of this particular property will ease the
discomfort of living with it, possibly accelerating the development of its
residential use. The Board does not feel a public hearing is necessary.
Upon motion by Miedtke seconded by Mesenbring, it was moved to recommend to the
Council for approval of a Building Permit for "remodeling and alteration"
improvements as presented by Walbon Excavation. Such permit to include plot
plan with the changes marked of placing the fence outside of the tree line and
the making more attractive the outside of all four sides of the building, and
the posting of a $5,000 performance bond by Walbon Construction guaranteeing
completion within one year from date of issuance . This approval to be contin-
gent on legality of remodeling as determined by Village Attorney.
Voting on the Motion:
Aye: Miedtke, Katterheinrich, Howitz, Mesenbring
Nay: Kronk
• B. Mr. Paul Johnson presented his request to increase the size of the
proposed 36 unit apartment building at 3817 Macalaster Drive by adding 6 units
2412" to its length. Mr. Johnson maintains the property's square footage will
support these extra units according to our ordinance requirements.
Upon motion by Katterheinrich, seconded by Miedtke it was moved to recommend
to the Council to approve said request.
