Planning Commission Regular Meeting Minutes
June 20, 1995 ,
Page 5
1 C, Lot Coverage-Survey FYI.
2 Management Assistant Kim Moore-Sykes indicated she had provided a survey of 15 cities and
3 presented this to the City Council per their request. The City Council requested this information
4 be provided to the Planning Commission.
5 Commissioner Franzese expressed concern that the cities in the survey do not have the same
6 water/drainage issues as St. Anthony.
7 Commissioner Gondorchin indicated he concurred, he believed the comparison was not relevant.
8 Commissioner Faust noted in Little Canada, although it is in reference to setback requirements
9 and not specific to lof-coverage, the numbers still represent 32% lot coverage.
10 Commissioner Horst, who attended the Council meeting, indicated the Council felt they needed
11 to address the Schroeder issue.
12 Commissioner Gondorchin indicated a variance could be given in regards to handicap
403 exceptions. Commissioner Franzese indicated it would be difficult, because variances would go
4 with the property not the property owner.
15 Chair Bergstrom inquired as to the City Council's decision. Commissioner Horst indicated the
16 Council thanked the Planning Commission for their comments, but intended to change the lot
17 coverage to 35%. He believed the first and second readings have been held.
18 D. Staff Report regarding trees on Stop 'N Go property.
19 Management Assistant Kim Moore-Sykes indicated she had received a call from the Mayor
20 requesting that the Planning Commission review the issue of the trees on the east side of the Stop
21 'N Go gas station on 2400 37th Avenue NE.
22 Moore-Sykes noted Mr. David Olson is asking the City to advise on what they want him to do
23 with the trees. He would keep the trees as they do provide screening to the adjacent residential
24 property and are beneficial in a number of ways to the area and repair the fence. He will build
25 - the fence and take down the trees, if that is what the City wants.
26
27 Moore-Sykes indicated after further review, it was realized the new fence could be built up to the
28 property line. This would allow Mr. Olson to build a new fence with the ability of keeping the
29 trees only if he does not encroach on the neighboring property..
Commissioner Faust inquired if the trees are on Mr. Olson's property. Moore-Sykes indicated it
1 was her understanding that the trees are on the Olson property.
