Planning Commission Regular Meeting Minutes
• January 20, 1998
Page 8
1 Commissioner Makowske stated that he would abstain from discussion of this issue as he had
2 engaged in business with Autumn Woods while under previous employment and his family
3currently engages in business with Autumn Woods.
4 Rose Fitzjerrells, Manager of Autumn Woods of St. Anthony, stated there are three buildings on
5 the site and one building is strictly for senior citizens. The seniors are between 80 and 90 years
6 old and Autumn Woods tries to provide as many services as possible for the independent-living
7 seniors. The senior building has a room with a hot tub which most of the seniors did not use and
8 is in need of repair. Ms. Fitzjerrells stated she would like to remove the hot tub and use that
9 room as a beauty salon. There will be no advertising or signs. The service will be provided
10 strictly to the residents-and will be by appointment only on select days.
11 Commissioner Gondorchin asked if any concerns had been expressed by the residents who did
12 use the hot tub.
13 Ms. Fitzjerrells stated she had sent out a survey and all of the residents want and are waiting for
14 the beauty salon service.
15 Commissioner Horst noted there is a.similar facility at Chandler Place which is strictly for
0 residential use, so there is precedence.
17 Chair Bergstrom closed the public hearing at 7:45 P.M.
18 Chair Bergstrom stated this is a straight forward and innocuous request.
19 Motion by Chair Bergstrom, seconded by Commissioner Gondorchin, to recommend approval of
20 a Conditional Use Permit for a one-station beauty salon to be housed inside Autumn Woods
21 subject to the following:
22 1.
