Regular Council Meeting <br /> August 14, 1990 <br /> page 8 <br /> 1 Councilmember Makowske had no report. <br /> 2 <br /> 3 Councilmember Wagner had attended a Road Task Force Meeting on <br /> 4 August 13th and stated he was very impressed with the number of <br /> 5 people who attended and their level of commitment. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 National Night Out was August 7th. Mayor Ranallo had attended two <br /> 8 of the National Night Out block parties. The Police Chief and an <br /> 9 officer had made presentations at these block parties and the Mayor <br /> 10 was very pleased with the presentations. He felt this undertaking <br /> 11 should be done City-wide next year. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Councilmember Makowske had also attended a National Night Out <br /> 14 block party and was impressed. She noted that City crews had <br /> 15 swept, the street before the block party and felt this was a <br /> 16 nice service to provide. She noted that this is a service pro- <br /> 17 vided for all block parties. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 City-wide Clean Up Day is September 15th. Sue VanderHeyden, Assistant <br /> 20 to the City Manager will address this item at the next Council meeting. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 Mayor Ranallo noted that the off-sale profits have decreased and he <br /> _ _23 _ suggested this be .discus.sed with.-the Liquor Operations- Manager by <br /> 24 the City Manager. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 The City Manager stated he had discussed this matter with the Liquor • <br /> 27 Operations Manager and had been advised that the profits in the industry <br /> 28 have declined. Other marketing techniques will be used. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 A letter was received from Minneapolis Alderman Walt Dziedzic regarding <br /> 31 a walkway from Lowry Avenue to the St . Anthony Shopping Center. The <br /> 32 City Manager advised that the Public Works Director has written a letter <br /> 33 to the Autumn Woods developers regarding this matter as well as some <br /> 34 other items of concern. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Councilmember Marks expressed some concern with a snow fence which is <br /> 37 still standing. It was noted that this had been left in place to deter <br /> 38 walkers. Councilmember Wagner advised there is a higher hedge also being <br /> 39 planned for the area to block some of the vehicle lights. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 Mayor Ranallo attended the August 6th meeting of the Village Fest Com- <br /> 42 mittee at which time it was reported that a slight profit was realized <br /> 43 from this year' s festivities so there will be seed money for next year. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 On September 10th the Village Fest Committee will hold a kick-off <br /> 46 meeting in City Hall at 7:00 p.m. . This will be an organization meeting <br /> 47 for next year's Village Fest. The dates selected for next year are <br /> 48 August 2, 3, and 4. It is the intent of the Committee to hold a parade <br /> 49 next year and volunteers are needed soon as this project will take some <br /> 50 time. The Mayor requested the Bulletin be advised of this meeting. <br /> i <br />
