City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> March 28, 1995 <br /> Page 5 <br /> 1 Wagner also reported that Villagefest may be reduced to a one day event on Saturday <br /> 2 with the golf tournament still being held on Friday and the Kiwani's Pancake Breakfast <br /> 3 on Sunday. There are plans to have fireworks and a parade. He reported they have not <br /> 4 yet found a band to perform. <br /> 5 Wagner reported planning was in process for the upcoming events of the 50th anniversary <br /> 6 celebration including a pig roast, concert in the park, Villagefest, and a dinner at St. <br /> 7 Charles Church. He indicated that some other activities would include a hog calling <br /> 8 contest and six to eight old-fashioned games, such as a gunnysack race. <br /> 9 Wagner stated that Dave Urbia had called and indicated he was doing well in Blue Earth <br /> 10 and the things he had learned while in St. Anthony were helping him there. <br /> 11 Fleming thanked the Council and the City staff for their kindness and support during the <br /> 12 loss of her mother. <br /> 13 Fleming commented on the story and picture in the newspaper regarding Dr. Charles <br /> 14 Kirk,the longest resident of the St. Anthony Shopping Center. She wondered if it was <br /> 006 <br /> 15 appropriate for the Council to acknowledge Dr. Kirk in some form. <br /> Enrooth stated he felt it was more appropriate for the Chamber of Commerce to recognize <br /> 17 Dr. Kirk. <br /> 18 Fleming reported she had recently stopped and visited the residents at Walker on Kenzie. <br /> 19 She stated the residents had commented on the island behind Walker. She wondered if <br /> 20 something could be done in that area to improve the appearance. <br /> 21 Fleming also reported on-a' call the Police Department had received from.a resident <br /> 22 complaining about some children playing in a cul-de-sac. She stated the police responded <br /> 23 to a call for disturbance of the peace. She indicated the oldest child was seven years old, <br /> 24 it was during daytime hours, and there is always a mother outside with the children. She <br /> 25 expressed concern that children won't be allowed to play in the safest part of the street. <br /> 26 Fleming indicated she was unaware of the police response but wondered if a mediator <br /> 27 should be involved so the children can have the right all other children have to play in the <br /> 28 street. <br /> 29 D. City Manager, <br /> 30 1. Rice Creek Watershed District Citizen Task Force <br /> 31 City Manager Mornson reported a resident, Erling Weiberg has requested to be on the <br /> Rice Creek Watershed District Citizen Task Force. He indicated Mr. Weiberg follows <br /> the activities of the Watershed District as he was a member of the Soil Board in the past. <br />
