Council members raised objections to designating parts of Silver Lake,
37th Avenue N.E. and Stinson Boulevard.as part of the bike route and the
following motion was made:
Motion by Councilman Sundland, seconded by Mayor Miedtke to table action on
the proposed additions to the bike route.
Motion carried.
City Attorney Vickrey reported on the lawsuit by Hennepin County against Sunset
Memorial Park for back taxes. No formal action was taken by the Council.
Mayor Miedtke questioned the legality of allowing a resident of a precinct
in Hennepin County to serve as an election judge in a precinct in Ramsey County
and the following motion was made:
Motion by Councilman Stauffer, seconded by Councilman Sauer to approve the
Primary Election Judge List as submitted, pending a review by the City Attorney
as to the legality of a resident of the second precinct, Hennepin County, serving
as an election judge in the first precinct, Ramsey County.
Motion carried.
Motion by Councilman Sundland, seconded by Councilman Stauffer to review the
proposed 1975 budget on September 3 and 17th and October 1st as recommended by
the City Manager.
Motion carried.
The Council then discussed whether the City Manager and Liquor Manager should
begin discussions with Apache Plaza and the Mad Hatter Cafeteria about acquiring
the cafeteria for expansion. The sentiments expressed were that the restaurant
business was quite risky and the possibility of being forced out of the present
location in Apache to the Mad Hatter location.
Motion by Councilman Sundland, seconded by Councilman Sauer to direct the City
Manager and Liquor Manager to make a feasibility study of the proposed expansion
into the Mad Hatter Cafeteria and report back to the Council.
Motion carried.
The Council discussed the City Attorney's opinion on speed limits in alleys and
informally decided not to appeal the legal 30 m.p.h. speed limit.
The Council reviewed the June Fire & Police Reports and the Radar Report and
ordered them filed.
The Council discussed setting up a meeting with Bob Pulscher, city fiscal
consultant and it was decided that a noon meeting on August 28, 29 or 30th
would be most convenient.
Motion by Councilman Sauer, seconded by Mayor Miedtke to approve payment of
$1,566.00 to the League of Minnesota Municipalities for membership dues be-
ginning September 1, 197+.
Motion carried.
