_3_ <br /> recent ruling on notification of meetings of public officials required only <br /> "the X number of places necessary to adequately notify the citizens" and that <br /> • number would depend on the size of the community. <br /> Motion by Councilman Haik, seconded by Councilman Sundland to direct the City <br /> Manager to investigate the size, cost and availability of bulletin boards for <br /> installation in the Post Office and the State Bank of St. Anthony. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Councilman Stauffer requested that the prohibition of parking on Stinson Blvd. <br /> be added to the agenda for the next Council meeting. <br /> Basic agreement with the Post Office request to restrict parking in front of <br /> apartment buildings on Foss Road and Macalaster Drive was expressed by the <br /> Council but, because it was not certain there was enough off street parking <br /> available, the following motion was made: <br /> Motion by Mayor Miedtke, seconded by Councilman Stauffer to table action on <br /> restricting parking on Foss Road and Macalaster Drive until a report on the <br /> adequacy of parking facilities and a recommendation on "on street parking" are <br /> obtained from the Police Department. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Mayor Miedtke stated his intention of appearing at the November lith public <br /> hearing in New Brighton to protest the extension of Silver Lane to connect <br /> with Foss Road but to indicate an interest but a lack of fund for the pedestrian <br /> bridge as outlined in the proposal from Thomas Lewcock, City Manager of New <br /> Brighton. <br /> Motion by Councilman Sundland, seconded by Councilman Haik to indicate to the <br /> City of New Brighton that the City of St. Anthony objects to the extension of <br /> Silver Lane over the railroad tracks to connect with Foss Road. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> During the discussion of the letter from the League of Minnesota Municipalities <br /> regarding the Fair Labor Standards Act litigation, Councilman Haik said she <br /> would like more particulars of the suit as well as the range of differences in <br /> wage scales paid on a national basis. <br /> Motion by Councilman Sauer, seconded by Councilman Sundland to contribute <br /> $50.00 to the League of Minnesota Municipalities toward lawsuit challenging <br /> the validity of the Fair Labor Standards Act. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Motion by Councilman Sundland, seconded by Councilman Haik to table action on <br /> the letter from the City of St. Paul regarding financial participation in St. <br /> P.aul•'s watchdog effort over the Public Service Commission about the Suburban <br /> Rate Authority's effort in that regard. <br /> • Motion carried. <br /> The Police and Fire Reports were ordered filed. <br />
