J
• Commercial the easterly 322 feet of Apache Terrace, Block 1 , Lot 1 to enable
the R.C.E. Corporation to construct a Country Kitchen restaurant as part of an
office building complex and to waive further application fees.
_:Z
loti n carried unanimously.
r. Gerald Louiselle, 3400 Croft Drive . took exception to the Boards' failure
to approve the amending of the City ordinance to include a florist and gift
shop as one of the permitted uses for allowing a Conditional Use Permit. He
said he did not feel his business activities differed substantially with those
of the Herfurth Realty Company or the Twin City Federal banking business which
had been granted conditional use permits for properties in the same area. He
also challenged the Board's premise that permitting him to convert the Hedlund
house at 390€ Silver Lake Road to a florist shop would open the area to other
commercial business since he felt only the Board and Council had the power to
allow such development.
Mayor Miedtke felt the Council shou Id have some estimate of what traffic might
be generated by such a business but made the following motion:
Motion by Mayor tliedtke; seconded by Councilman Sauer to direct the Planning
Board to hold a Public Nearing on the Louiselle request at their November 13
meeting to consider amending the zoning ordinance to include a florist and
gift shop as a permitted use in the Conditional Use Section.
• Before voting on the above, Councilman Sauer pointed out that the public meet-
ing to consider the new zoning ordinance was scheduled for the first week
in December and it might be preferable for Mr. Louiselle to present his request
at that hearing so that it might be considered in conjunction with the proposed
planned development for that area.
Councilman Sauer then withdrew his second and the motion died for lack of a
second.
j P1r. Bowerman then told the Council that, although the Board had misgivings
about the request from Mr. Clarence Pould, 1295 Qakcrest, Roseville, that he
be granted a building permit to erect a warehouse of steel construction on Foss
Road which he would use to store and repair pipe organs, the majority felt they
could not refuse the request since the property in question is still zoned Light
Industrial .
The Building Inspector was ill and not present and the colored drawings and
plans for the building were not available and Mr. Fornell returned to the
city hall to ascertain whether he could locate them. Action was tabled to await
his eturn.
s
Mr. Tom Nealy, Attorney for the Coodyear Tire and Rubber Company, presented
the drawings and site plan for the free standing sign noodyear is requesting
a variance to the sign ordinance to allow then to erect such a sign in front
• of their store at 4020 Silver Lake Road.
He said the existing sign on the south side of the building would be removed
to enable the company to comply with the signage size limitations set by the
ordinance and said the company only planned to have the sign lit during business
hours.
