Fornell was held on the new zoning <br /> ordinance with Mr. Fornell illustrating the proposed changes with a slide <br /> presentation. <br /> Copies of the existing ordinance as well as the latest revision of the proposed <br /> ordinance were distributed and commented on by Council members, Planning Board <br /> members (Letourneau, Rymarchick, Hiebel and Cowan) who were present as well as <br /> Harry Lekson and interested residents. <br /> The final draft of the ordinance will contain revisions suggested by the City <br /> Attorney and Howard Dahlgren, Planning Consultant, and will be reviewed at a <br /> joint meeting of the Council and the Planning Board, tentatively set for P"onday, <br /> January 26th. At that meeting the date for a public hearing will be set. <br /> • Comments from the residents on the new ordinance were solicited with the request <br /> that their remarks be presented in written form so they could become a part of <br /> the imput considered by the Council in preparing the final draft of the ordinance. <br /> fir. Harold Henkel , who now resides in New Germany, Minnesota, said he felt the <br /> property he still owns on Chandler Drive should remain zoned Light Industrial <br /> since all the recent permits for that area had been granted under the existing <br /> zoning. <br /> Mrs. Chester Nelson, 3916 Macalaster Drive, opposed any change in the zoning of <br /> the undeveloped land across from Apache Plaza or for those parcels for which <br /> conditional use permits had been already granted. <br /> Mr. Orlyn l-J. Miller, 444 Upton Avenue North, of !,)ehrman & Chapman Associates, <br /> who wrote the North Study for that area, said he wished to provide the thinking <br /> of Mr. Gordon Hedlund, owner of a large tract of the above mentioned undeveloped <br /> strip, regarding the type of development of that land Mr. Hedlund felt would be <br /> compatible to the area and would at the same time provide some economical gain <br /> to him. <br /> Mr. Miller did not consider the contemplated zoning of the tract to R-4 as an <br /> economically feasible method of developing the land. <br /> Councilman Stauffer then pointed out that the conditional use permit issued for <br /> a retirement apartment building on a portion of that land was still in effect. <br /> is Mr. Miller said he would present in written form, Mr. Helund 's proposal for <br /> developing the land he owns in that area. <br /> Mr. Ray Sopcinski , 2524 St. Anthony Road, agreed to indicate on a copy of the <br /> ordinance any changes he felt should be made. <br />
