Page 4
• Mr. Michael Carroll , 3829 Foss Road, objected to the R-4 zoning of his property
because of an indication he had from St. Anthony Millwork that they were interes-
ted in using his property for expansion of their plant.
Mr. Lee was concerned with how his property, Lot 7, Block 7, Moundsview Acres,
2nd Addition, which is located next to the proposed Twin City Federal building
construction would be zoned.
Mr. Lowell Thompson, a member of the District #282 School Board , but speaking
only for himself, was concerned that young families with children might be
discouraged from settling in the City if the proposed minimum square footage
for single family dwellings or insistance on double garages should be adopted in
the new ordinance. He said St. Anthony would then have the most restrictive
building codes in the metro area and if families with young children were unable
to build within the City the present school system might be lost to the City.
The date of January 26 for a Joint meeting of the Council and Planning Board
was to be decided on at the meetings of both bodies set for December 16th.
The discussion of the zoning ordinance was concluded at 10:30 P.M.
Motion by Councilman Sauer, seconded by Councilman Haik to approve the County
Road Maintenance Agreement with Hennepin County whereby the county will pay for
routine maintenance of their roads in St. Anthony.
• Motion carried unanimously.
Following a discussion of the disadvantages of the present use of Apache Plaza
Shopping Center as a polling place with Mrs. Nelson, who is an election judge,
the Council decided to go with the following recommendations from the Manager:
Motion by Councilman Stauffer, seconded by Councilman Sauer to designate the
Emerald Park shelter building as the Ramsey County polling place in the City of
St. Anthony.
Motion carried unanimously.
Action on the temporary car port which had been erected for the winter in
front of the Marinan residence at 2515 29th Avenue N.E. , was tabled until the
next meeting to give Council members an opportunity to view the structure.
Mr. Dulgar said he and the mayor had attended the meeting regarding the raising
of rates to be paid by the City to Hennepin County for their housing City
prisoners in the Hennepin County Adult Correction Facility and they had decided
that in the long run the City would benefit from the raise since Minneapolis will
now be paying its share of the costs.
Mr. Vickrey reported that Mr. Michaelhoff had failed to sign the agreement that
the construction materials and truck would be removed from his property at
3640-44 Silver Lake Road before December 1st and although the attorney was re-
quested to try to settle the matter out of court, the following direction was
• given him to implement if negotiations fail :
Motion by Councilman Sauer, seconded by Councilman Stauffer to direct the City
Attorney to proceed with the injunction against the property owners of 3640-44
Silver Lake Road for their violation of the City ordinance.
