Through traffic must be <br /> provided for during the construction operations . <br /> EXISTING CONDITIONS <br /> Existing bridge 6631 serves the north bound lanes of Silver Lake Road. <br /> The bridge, built in 1952 , consists of 3 simple steel beam spans with <br /> asphalt filled metal deck pans . The bridge is supported by concrete <br /> abutments and C. I . P. pile bent piers . Roadway width is 30 feet . <br /> Vertical clearance is approximately 22 feet . The metal deck pans are <br /> severely corroded. Current sufficiency rating is 23 . 3 . The south bound <br /> lanes are served by bridge 62503 . This bridge, built in 1961, consists <br /> of 3 precast concrete slab beam spans with an asphaltic wearing <br /> course . The bridge is supported by concrete abutments and piers . <br /> Roadway width is 30 feet with a six foot sidewalk on one side . <br /> Vertical clearance is approximately 22 feet . Both bridges span a <br /> single railroad track which is under the jurisdiction of the C. P. Rail <br /> System. <br /> Silver Lake Road is a 4 lane divided highway with turn lanes at <br /> intersections and major entrances . Current posted speed is 35 mph. <br /> 1993 average annual daily traffic was counted at 14 , 250 vehicles per <br /> day. Vehicle turning movement counts are enclosed for your reference. <br /> The initial roadway was constructed in 1961 and widened in 1975 . The <br /> segment from the bridges, south and through the County Road D <br /> • intersection was constructed in 1985 . Soils are anticipated to be <br /> plastic having a Hveem stabilometer resistance value of approximately <br /> 20 . <br /> A half section property boundary map, partial plans of previous <br /> construction projects, roadway segment sheets and bridge inventory <br /> sheets are enclosed for your reference . <br /> PROJECT CONCERNS <br /> Existing right-of-way limits at and near the County Road D <br /> intersection are restrictive . Adjacent property is heavily developed <br /> and traffic demands are substantial . Acquisition of additional <br /> permanent right-of-way will be extremely difficult . <br /> Due to the heavy volumes of traffic and the existence of commercial <br /> developments it will be necessary to construct this project under <br /> traffic . Access to businesses must be maintained to the fullest extent <br /> practicable throughout the construction activities . <br /> The City of St . Anthony is actively working with prospective <br /> businesses for the redevelopment of Apache Plaza and adjacent sites. <br /> This project will be coordinated with development activities by <br /> interactions with the City and business community throughout the <br /> duration of the project . <br /> • Existing steep inslopes encroach on buildings along the easterly edge <br /> of the segment . <br />
