ORDINANCE 1971+-002 AN ORDINANCE REIATING TO SIGNS; AMENDING SECTION 1+30:1+0 OF THE 1973 CODE OF ORDINANCES Councilman Sauer reported on the meeting of the Community Services Advisory • Committee March 20, 1974 where a discussion of the City's establishing a mini- park at the corner of St. Anthony Road and Roosevelt St. N.E. was held. A number of neighbors living near the property which is owned by Mr. & Mrs. Joe Sroga urged the Council to approve the purchase of the southerly one and one-half lots from the Srogas for approximately $17,000 and setting this area aside as a play park for the very young children of the neighborhood. Motion by Councilman Sauer, seconded by Councilman Stauffer to refer the ac- quisition of 1- lots at the coiner of St. Anthony Road and Roosevelt St. N.E. for a park area to the Planning Board for consideration at their April 2, 1974 meeting and request that the Board report their recommendations to the Council at their April 9 meeting and at that same meeting the City Manager be directed to report the results of his review of potential funding for the project. Voting on the motion: Aye: Haik, Sauer, Miedtke, Stauffer Nay: Sundland Motion carried. The meeting recessed at 9:25 P.M. and reconvened at 9:25 P.M. Mr. Comstock gave a report on the bidding on the water pressure project which had been held that noon. . Motion by Councilman Sundland, seconded by Coiuicilman Stauffer to adopt a resolution accepting t`:e lowest bid of 9,955.00 from tlie Irving Lamppa Construction Company of Chaska on Water Improvomenc Project #1974-1. Motion by Councilman Sauer, seconded by Mayor Miedtke to authorize the City Attorney to enter into an agreement with Northdale Construction for Storm Sewer Project 1972-1 as outlined in the letter of March 15, 1974 from Mr. Fabyanske, Northdale's attorney. Motion carried. Following a report by Mr. Vickrey on the progress of the litigation between Hennepin County and the Minneapolis Park Board on the rebuilding of Stinson Blvd. and the possible costs to the City from continuation of participation in the lawsuit as well as a discussion by the Council of the principles involved in the City's involvement in the court action, the following motion was made: Motion by Mayor Miedtke, seconded by Councilman Sundland to authorize the City • Attorney to continue to defend the City of St. Anthony's right to ascertain what may be built within the city limits.
