Motion by Councilman Haik, seconded by Councilman Stauffer to direct the City <br /> Manager to prepare for Council consideration a district map and a resolution to <br /> adopt the new Street Improvement Policy containing the suggested changes made by <br /> the members of the Council and staff. <br /> • Motion carried unanimously. <br /> The meeting was recessed at 9 P.M. and reconvened at 9:12 P.M. <br /> Councilman Sauer reported that Marlys Berg, Chairman of the Human Relations <br /> Committee, who had been present for a portion of the earlier discussion had indic- <br /> ated to him that she felt the present vacancy on the Committee should be filled <br /> with an appointment of a high school student. Councilman Sauer said he would <br /> present such an appointment at a later meeting. <br /> Mr. Raymond M. Lazar of the law firm, Lapp, Lazar, Laurie and Smith, 1200 Builders <br /> Exchange Building, said he represented Mr. Steve Chamison, President of the <br /> Minnesota Motels, Inc. , who was present, in requesting a vacation of that portion <br /> of Coolidge Street west and behind the Northgate Motel, 2526 Highway 8, which the <br /> City still owns. Mr. Lazar said his client wanted to blacktop the section which <br /> was approximately 225 feet long, for use as additional parking space and access <br /> to the property and intended to beautify and maintain it in an improved manner. <br /> Preceding the following motion there was a discussion by the Manager and Mr. Lazar <br /> of the exact descriptio of the land to be vacated as well as provisions for re- <br /> tention by the City of easements for public utilities. <br /> Motion by Councilman Sundland' seconded by Councilman Sauer to hold a public hear- <br /> ing at the March 11, 1975 Council meeting on the request by Mr. Chamison for the <br /> vacation of that portion of Coolidge Street N.F. which abuts the Northgate Motel <br /> property to the west. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> There was a discussion but no action taken on the possibility of vacating that <br /> portion of Coolidge Street N.F. which runs between the Hennepin County Library <br /> and Sroga's Station in the St. Anthony Shopping Center. <br /> Motion by Councilman Sundland, seconded by Councilman Haik to concur with the <br /> State's request to reconvey the surplus right of way which extends in front of the <br /> Northgate Motel but to indicate to the State that the City must have the utilities <br /> easements reserved. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Motion by Councilman Stauffer, seconded by Mayor Miedtke to adopt Resolution <br /> #75-012. <br /> RESOLUTION 75-012 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE METRO COUNCIL <br /> TO APPLY FOR HOUSING ASSISTANCE FUNDS FOR <br /> IMPLE vI NTATION WITHIN THE CITY OF ST.
