-4- <br /> Council and Manager reaction was given to changes proposed in the <br /> Police Reserve Bylaws by Chief Hickerson. Mayor Haik said she <br /> felt the reserves would not be the appropriate vehicle for expanding <br /> the productivity of the Police Department. <br /> Motion by Councilman Ranallo and seconded by Councilman Sundland to <br /> approve the Police Reserve Bylaws as amended. <br /> Voting on the motion: <br /> Aye: Ranallo, Sundland, Sauer and Letourneau <br /> Nay: Haik <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Councilman Sauer wanted the reserve recruitment deferred until the <br /> Manager had investigated the success of the intern program in other <br /> communities . Mr. Fornell agreed to report this information back <br /> to the Council by the next Council meeting. The possibility of <br /> having the interns provide part of the reserve training was also <br /> considered. The Council agreed to delay recruitment. <br /> Action on the interdepartmental training program for the Police <br /> Department was tabled until Mr. Fornell has ascertained what action <br /> the State Legislature is planning for the P.O.S .T. Board. <br /> • The Council failed to take any action regarding the continuation of <br /> the C.S.O. position. <br /> Florence Marks , leader of Girl Scout Troop #1586 , and two members <br /> of the Troop, Ruth Marks and Mary Pucel, appeared to bring the <br /> Council up to date on the sculpture for the St. Anthony cemetery . <br /> They showed the plans for the installation of the sculpture which <br /> had been drawn for them by the father of one of the scouts, and <br /> Mary read the suggested wording for the plaque. Ms. Marks reported <br /> the concrete f,�r the base had been donated by the Sheeley Construc- <br /> tion Company, and the corten steel base by the Paper Calmenson Com- <br /> pany. <br /> Mayor Haik again commended the girls and their leader for the project. <br /> The Council accepted the Manager' s recommendation that the liquor <br /> operation hearing before the community should be scheduled at 8 p.m. , <br /> May 30, 1979 , immediately following the Board of Review. Notifica- <br /> tion of the hearing will be placed in the District #282 newsletter <br /> scheduled to be delivered to all I .S.D. #282 residents about May 15 . <br /> Motion by Councilman Sundland and seconded by Mayor Haik to approve <br /> the rerouting of MTC line #18E along 38th Avenue N.E. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> • <br /> Y <br />
