-5- <br /> Plans were made for attendance at the League of Minnesota Cities <br /> Annual Conference, June 13 - 15 . <br /> Discussions of the annual reports from the Fire and Water Departments <br /> and the February Police Report preceded their filing. <br /> Motion by Councilman Sauer and seconded by Councilman Sundland to <br /> follow the recommendations of the City Manager and discontinue the <br /> City 's participation in the Employee Assistance Program through <br /> the Metropolitan Clinic of Counseling due to lack of utilization of <br /> the program by City employees. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Motion by Councilman Ranallo and seconded by Councilman Sundland <br /> to grant all licenses listed in the April 24 , 1979 Agenda. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Councilman Ranallo requested the press representative publicize <br /> that the Metropolitan Animal Patrol will be operating in the City . <br /> Motion by Councilman Sundland and seconded by Councilman Sauer to <br /> approve payment of all Verified Claims listed in the April 24 , 1979 <br /> Agenda. <br /> • Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Motion by Councilman Letourneau and seconded by Councilman Sundland <br /> to approve payment of $2 , 016 . 17 to the Dorsey Firm for services <br /> during February, 1979 . <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Motion by Councilman Sundland and seconded by Councilman Ranallo to <br /> approve payment of $2 , 132 . 00 to B.R.W. , Inc. for work on the <br /> Comprehensive Plan. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Council members are to inform the Manager of their reactions to his <br /> suggested communications with the State Legislature regarding the <br /> proposed formula for state aid to municipalities . He was requested <br /> to indicate the City' s opposition to the bill which would authorize <br /> the sale of strong beer in grocery and other stores . <br /> Councilman Letourneau and Mr. Fornell reported the opposition at <br /> a recent meeting voiced by approximately 50 residents who live in <br /> the same neighborhood with American Monarch to having the plant <br /> employees park on residential streets during the construction of a <br /> new parking lot east of the plant. They continued their opposition <br /> • in spite of assurances by Ed Fiore , Plant Manager, that the time <br /> table for the construction had been accelerated and it was esti- <br /> mated that street parking for no more than 15 vehicles would be <br /> necessary . <br />
