ENFORCEMENT
Health and safety requirements are to be regarded as similar to other City rules and
policies. Infractions shall be dealt with on an individual basis, consistent with the nature
of the infraction, through normal personnel procedures. All City employees are expected
to observe those rules which apply to them, and to exercise common sense in
undertaking their responsibilities.
At the conclusion of any Safety Committee review of a safety violation, a written notice of
the committees findings and recommendations will be submitted to the employee in
question as well as his/her supervisor. The supervisor shall review the information with
the employee and make changes in department policy, take disciplinary action if
necessary and/or implement the proper safety procedures to comply with City policy and
OSHA standards.
EMPLOYEE RIGHT-TO-KNOW
Specific information on the proper handling and storage of speck gases, hazardous
chemicals or other products used by the City should be obtained from the Material
Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for the specific product.
These policies are intended as a general procedure and not intended to specifically
address the handling and storage of each specific hazardous chemical and product used
by the City.
TRAINING/INSTRUCTION
Each department shall be responsible for providing appropriate training and/or instruction
to employees to provide the employee with the necessary knowledge to do the job safely
and efficiently.
Employees should request instruction or training for tasks and equipment of which they
are unfamiliar.
CITY OF ST.
