-2- • Mr. Dennis Collins appeared before the Planning Board to request a building permit for 12 additional garages to be located on Lot 2, Rlock 9, Mounds View Acres, 2nd Addition. Mr. Lekson informed the Planning 9oard that he had checked with Mr. Comstock of Comstock & Davis, and Mr. Comstock informed him that the request would be okay as long as they built 15 feet away from the sewer line. Motion by 'Cronk, seconded by Parrill to recommend to the Council the request for the proposed garages with the further recommendation that the exterior material of the garages conform to the existing Diamond 0' garages. --,,nM -t-ion carried. Mr. Rodger P. Nordell of Firestone Real Estate Dept. and Mr. O.K. Shabaz, District Operating Manager for Firestone appeared before the Roard to request a free standing sign 25' high, lighted neon to be placed on the corner of 39th & Stinson Rlvd. Mr. Shabaz stated that it was his understanding that the Village Ordinance in regard to signs allowed a free standing sign for service stations and being they do run a service station type of operation, based on that, they request the variance. The Planning Board discussed the request with regard to interference with the Equinox Apartments (light shining into their windows ), lack exposure to the main section of the Apache Shopping Centers parking area, etc. Motion by Ondrey, seconded by i(ronk to recommend to the Council the approval of a free standing sign for the Firestone Tire Company for the corner of 39th rr Stinson Rlvd. Voting on the motion: Aye: Ondrey, Kronk, McGinn Nay: Rratland, Parrill, Letourneau Motion not carried. Motion by Rratland, seconded by Parrill to recommend to the Council the denial of this request. Voting on the motion: Aye : Rratland, Parrill, Letourneau Nay: Ondrey, +Cronk, McGinn Motion not carried. • Motion by Ondrey, seconded by 1(ronk to refer this request to the Council for their decision. \MO tion carried.
