-3- <br /> Mr. Earl Rosengren of Central Engineering appeared before the Planning noand to <br /> • request a building permit for an addition to the north section of their present <br /> building. <br /> The Planning Board questioned Mr. Rosengren as to the purpose of the addition, <br /> and Mr. Rosengren assured the Planning loard it would be used for storage of <br /> parts that were presently left outside, no new employees would be hired in <br /> their company, there were no other buildings near the planned addition that <br /> would be affected by this addition. <br /> Motion by Parrill, seconded by Letourneau to recommend for approval to the <br /> Council. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Harry Lekson presented Midwest Federal plans for the circular building to be <br /> constructed on the northeast corner of the Apache Shopping Center. The proposal <br /> was iscussed and no action was deemed necessary. <br /> Mr. Lekson presented plans for the Salvation Army Dining Nall to replace the <br /> present dining hall. Later in the evening Mr. Richard VanMan appeared before <br /> the Board and presented plans and explained the materials they were proposing to <br /> use, <br /> Motion by Kronk, seconded by McGinn to approve plans as presented and recommend <br /> the request for approval by the Council. <br /> • Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Lekson showed the planning 9oard a drawing of proposed sign for "Duddy's <br /> for Tires" which will occupy the small building on Kenzie Terrace previously <br /> known as the "pop shop". The sign was within the limits of the sign ordinance <br /> and no action was deemed necessary. <br /> Rratland brought up the subject of pedestrian pathways. He reported that he had <br /> met with Dr. %, nz, Supt. of Schools for District 282. Mr. Rratland passed out <br /> results of his study with Dr. Qenz. The major problem, explained Mr. Rratland, <br /> was that there were approximately 300 children north of 37th and east of Silver <br /> Lake Road that have need to get to Central Park area for school events, social <br /> and sport activities, and there is presently no safe way for those children to <br /> walk from their home area to the Central Park area. <br /> Mr. Rratland's plan basically included pathways on the west side of Silver Lake <br /> Road from 29th Avenue to 33rd Avenue. A pathway down Macalaster along 37th <br /> Avenue and proposed stop light at Foss Road to enable the children in the <br /> Emerald Park area to safely cross 37th Avenue. <br /> The pathway system was discussed in detail by the Planning Roard with regard to <br /> the need for such system, expense of such system, maintenance and public opinion <br /> of such system. <br /> Motion by McGinn, seconded by Bratland that the pathway system be recommended <br /> • for further study to the Council. <br /> Voting on the motion: <br /> s�_ <br />
