Second Floor
Description: There are a few offices that occupy the third
floor. Like the first floor, most of the walls and ceilings
are painted plaster.
Condition: The walls and ceilings were in good condition
except for the ceilings below the southwest and northwest
low itched roofs. The ceilings and portions of the walls
p g
in these rooms have areas of water staining, peeling paint,
" and deteriorated plaster associated with roof leaks.
Recommendation: If not already done, repair the roof leaks. Repair the area of deteriorated
plaster.
Windows
Description: The typical window that is found on the
building is a casement window with a wood sash and
-•.A frame. The glazing is single pane, leaded, divided lights.
4 Some of the larger openings have fixed transom windows
above the casement windows. Several of these leaded
;.. windows have been replaced with single light windows.
x
Condition: The windows are of special concern as they
are in poor condition. While at the building, this interior plastic sheet
was moving in and out because of the wind outside.
These windows offer no protection from the weather.
Many of these windows show signs of water infiltration.
The bottom of the sashes and the sills of the windows
have heavy water stains and deteriorated wood.
Individual lights within the leaded windows have been
 .:.
' ; , .'_y k= • - replaced. There are some lights that are cracked. Some
. ` windows have been re-leaded. When the windows were
re-leaded the window shifted out of square and altered the
horizontal alignment of the lead carnes.
Recommendation: Replace the windows on the building.
The only windows that should not be replaced are the east
windows in the reception hall. These windows would be too difficult to replicate and the
Sunset Memorial Park Administration Building
Preliminary National Register and Condition Assessment—Page 10
