Planning Commission Meeting Minutes
August 16, 2005
Page 17
regarding the number of`for sale' vehicles that are being parked in the Wiltshire Park School
parking lot. She stated that because this use is not listed as an allowable use in the Zoning
Ordinance, selling vehicles in this manner is not allowed and would be towed away at the
owner's expense and cited if these vehicles were parked on public property or public right-of-
way. She stated that Wiltshire Park is considered private property and as such, the police can
only respond if and when there is a call from the school staff. She stated that the Police and the
Public Works Department have been working with the School staff to determine a resolution to
this situation. She stated that she obtained a copy of the City of Falcon Heights' ordinance
regarding vehicle sales noting that this ordinance language was used as an example of a possible
ordinance that the City could adopt to alleviate the situation. She reviewed the proposed
language with the Commission noting that it would be sent to the City Attorney and the Police
Department for their comments.

Commissioner Jensen stated that signage would be more appropriate as they do not want to gate
the area.

Commissioner Jenson agreed stating that there is only one good way into the parking lot. He
stated that if they place signage appropriately they could also make a fee recommendation for
violations within the next year.

Chair Stromgren agreed stating that signage and a text change would help to enforce.

Ms. Moore-Sykes stated that the City would have to get permission from the County or the
School Board noting that they are currently working with the School Board on potential signage.

XI.
