Planning Commission Meeting Minutes <br /> September 19, 2006 <br /> Page 5 <br /> 1 Chair Stromgren asked Assistant City Manager Moore-Sykes when she would like to start the <br /> 2 process. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 Assistant City Manager Moore-Sykes replied she would move forward as soon as the Planning <br /> 5 Commission instructed her to do so. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 Chair Stromgren stated he came up with several criteria that could be included in the ordinance. <br /> 8 He proposed there could be some language to include monochromatic and numbers and letters <br /> 9 not over 14 inches high. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Commissioner Jensen asked if a district chose to allow electronic signage, why would they be <br /> 12 overly restrictive or put limits on it. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Chair Stromgren stated one does not typically see that and it is typically on a pylon. He replied he <br /> 15 intends to limit it so that other types of electronic signage are not allowed. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Galyon stated he agreed. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Chair Stromgren stated the City must limit the amount of visual clutter in the neighborhoods. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Commissioner Jensen stated there is essentially one district in which to come up with language <br /> 22 for the ordinance; it should be simple. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Assistant City Manager Moore-Sykes replied that is why it is segregated into four signage types. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Commissioner Jensen stated he would advocate moving forward with the public hearings. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 Chair Stromgren suggested perhaps Mr. Bona could comment on any potential issues. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 Mr. Bona replied he would do some investigation on the exact numbers and provide feedback. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Commissioner Jensen asked if Staff could contact the other areas using LED signs and what <br /> 33 limitations they have on height, lighting and such. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 IX. Comprehensive Plan Task Force Update—Meeting from September 13,2006 <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Assistant City Manager Moore-Sykes stated a task force meeting was held on September 13, <br /> 40 2006 and the next meeting is scheduled for October 18, 2006. She informed the Commission the <br /> 41 public forum would be scheduled for some time between that October 18 and Nov 21, 2006. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Assistant City Manager Kim Moore-Sykes stated it was a very busy evening but the task force <br /> 44 got through what they needed to. <br /> 45 <br />
