Housing and Redevelopment Authority Meeting Minutes
• August 13, 1996
Page 2
1 VI. CONSIDER POSSIBLE CHANGE ORDERS AND OTHER ISSUES ON
2 COMMUNITY CENTER BUILDING WITH WILLIAMS/O'BRIEN.
3 A. Change Order No. 9: Site Modifications (Includes Watershed Issues and
4 Connecting Road from Police Parking to Silver Lake Road.
5 Mr. Jim O'Brien, Williams/O'Brien Associates, Inc. explained this site
modification relates to the Watershed District requirements and also includes a
connection from the police driveway to Silver Lake Road. The amount of the
change order is $19,900.00.
9 Wagner asked if the swale in the upper left comer of the site plan would interfere
10 with a children's playground being placed in that area and also exactly what the
1 I change order of $19,900.00 would fund.
12 Ms. Liz Hermann, Williams/O'Brien Associates, Inc. stated the swale could
13 interfere with a children's playground in that area, depending on the size of the
14 play area.
15 Mr. O'Brien stated the $19,900.00 would fund the grading and reconstruction of
16 the site of the holding ponds as required by the Rice Creek Watershed District. It
0 will also include pipe and gravel bedding.
18 Marks asked if there would be a sidewalk on 33rd Avenue in front of the building
19 and suggested a walkway in front of the tennis courts may be a possibility. Marks
20 also asked if the bus stop would be retained and where the flag poles would be
21 located.
22 Mr. O'Brien stated there was not a sidewalk located on 33rd Avenue but there
23 was ample area available to place a sidewalk. He verified the bus stop and noted
24 the location of the flag poles in front of the entrance.
25 Faust stated he felt a walkway in front of the tennis courts was a nice idea and
26 made more sense than a sidewalk on the edge of the property.
27 Motion by Enrooth, second by Marks to approve Change Order No. 9, Site
28 Modification (including Watershed issues and connecting road from police
29 parking to Silver Lake Road in an amount not to exceed $19,900.00.
30 Wagner again asked if a children's play area could be located in the area near the
31 swale.
Mr. O'Brien stated he felt there would be room to accommodate the swale and a
play area and assured the Council that Will will work with
34 Community Services on this issue.
