Housing and Redevelopment Authority Meeting Minutes
November 26, 1996
• Page 3
I Motion by Marks, second by Wagner to add a manhole in the storm line northeast of the
2 City Hall/Community Center in the amount of $1,885.00.
Motion carried unanimously.
4 Mr. O'Brien explained a proposed Change Order to change the concrete floor sealer from
5 a water based sealer to a solvent based sealer in the amount of $300.00. This will make
6 resealing of the floor easier as the solvent based sealant does not require stripping and the
7 water based sealant does.
8 Motion by Marks, second by Faust to approve the Change Order to change from water
9 based concrete floor sealer to solvent based floor sealer in the amount of $300.00.
10 Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. O'Brien explained a proposed Change Order to create a raised platform of 6" for the
12
Council bench and seating. This would also require the raising of the electrical outlets.
13
Graus had provided an estimated cost of $13,000.00 to $16,000.00. Mr. O'Brien
14
explained that after he discussed the item with Graus Construction, Graus reduced the
price and admitted they had just thrown together the cost figure. Mr. O'Brien stated he
was disgusted with the cost response he has received from Graus. He stated based on
17
conversation with Graus and his own cost calculations, he believe the change would cost
18
approximately $6,700.00.
19 Mayor Ranallo asked if all the ramps were necessary. Mr. O'Brien stated they are.
20 Marks stated he was unsure if it was necessary for the platform to be raised. He felt a
21 raised platform gave a more controlling image rather than a sense of participation. He
22 stated he would prefer the platform not be raised.
23 Wagner stated he would prefer the platform not be raised as he did not feel it was
24 important and did not.want to pay for it.
25 Mayor Ranallo stated he would prefer the platform be raised. He stated he had not
26 received any complaints of intimidation due to a raised dias.
27 Marks stated he would like to provide an intimate atmosphere in the new Council
28 Chambers.
29 Mayor Ranallo stated he would strongly recommend the money be spent to raise the
10 platform one step.
