Housing and Redevelopment Authority Meeting Minutes
December 18, 1996
•
Page 2
VI. BID AWARD FOR CLEANING SERVICE AT CITY HALL/COMMUNITY
CENTER.
Marks, questioned why the bid from Compton's Commercial was so low.
Mornson explained the original bid included three parts, cleaning of the City
Hall/Community Center, Community Service, and the Stonehouse. The bid for
consideration this evening was for cleaning of the City Hall/Community Center only.
The total amount of all three parts of the bid had a dollar amount closer to the same of the
other two companies.
9 Mornson reported Compton's Commercial cleans 75 Champion Auto Stores, the
10 Orpheum Theater and also cleaned the Smithsonian Exhibit which was in town recently.
I 1 The references for Compton's Commercial were excellent. Compton's also had a
12 meeting with staff and received a great response.
13 Mayor Ranallo questioned the cancellation clause of the Contract.
14 City Attorney Soth stated the cancellation clause states "either party may terminate this
Contract, with or without cause, by 30 days prior written notice to the other. Soth
questioned the signatory being changed to the HRA.
17 Mornson explained it was changed because the HRA had issued the bonds for the City
18 Hall/Community Center.
19 Soth noted if the signatory was changed to the HRA, the first line of Resolution 1996-011
20 and the first paragraph of the Contract should be changed as well.
21 There was direction to Staff to investigate this issue further with the Finance Director.
22 Enrooth asked if someone would be present in the building during business hours to
23 perform maintenance, etc.
24 Mornson reported a Public Works employee would be present during the day to perform
25 these duties.
26 Motion by Marks, second by Enrooth to approve HRA Resolution 1996-011, approving a
27 Contract for janitorial services with Compton's Commercial Cleaning and authorizing the
28 Chair and Executive Director to sign said contract.
29
40 Motion carried unanimously.
