PUBLIC HEARINGS. <br />18 <br />19 None <br />20 <br />21 V. REPORTS FROM COMMISSION AND STAFF. <br />22 <br />23 A. Resolution 07 -054; Preliminary Approval of the Comprehensive Plan. <br />24 <br />25 Planning Commissioner Jan Jenson presented information on the public hearing held and the <br />26 preliminary approval of the Comprehensive Plan Update by the Planning Commission on July <br />27 17, 2007. <br />28 <br />29 Councilmember Stille asked if there any additions or suggestions for the plan. <br />30 <br />31 Commissioner Jenson replied there were none. <br />32 <br />33 Assistant City Manager Moore -Sykes summarized the history of and process involved with the <br />34 Comprehensive Plan Update. She explained that once a motion for preliminary approval of the <br />35 2008 draft Update, the Comprehensive Land Use Plan would be submitted, along with any <br />36 received comments, to the Metropolitan Council for its 120 -day review period as required by <br />37 Minnesota Statute 473.854 and 473.858. She further explained that once the review period <br />38 expires, and the Met Council approves the City's Comprehensive Plan Update, the City is <br />39 required to schedule another public hearing for final approval by the City Council. Assistant <br />40 City Manager Moore -Sykes stated this public hearing is tentatively scheduled for November <br />41 2007. <br />42 <br />43 Assistant City Manager Moore -Sykes stated staff recommends City Council pass a motion of <br />44 preliminary approval of the City's 2008 Comprehensive Land Use Plan and direct staff to submit <br />45 the preliminarily approved draft copy to the Metropolitan Council and to resubmit draft copies to <br />46 the adjacent governmental units and school district. <br />
