GENERAL BUSINESS OF COUNCIL. 26 <br /> 27 <br />A. 2017 Parks Commission Work Plan. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Park Commission Chair Scott Bentz summarized some of the accomplishments of the Parks 30 <br />Commission in 2016. Mr. Bentz presented the 2017 Parks Commission Work Plan. The duties 31 <br />of the Parks Commission are as follows: 32 <br />• To prepare, revise and maintain a comprehensive, long-term plan for the redevelopment of 33 <br />parks within the city. This plan shall be viewed as a working document that serves as a 34 <br />framework and reference to future redevelopment; 35 <br />• To make recommendations to and advise the City Council and staff regarding park issues and 36 <br />ideas; 37 <br />• To establish priorities and recommend a phasing plan and schedule for implementing 38 <br />innovative park improvements, renovations, and plans; 39 <br />• To work with other communities to explore cooperative arrangements to develop connecting 40 <br />routes in the form of bikeways, walking paths, and corridors of green space wherever 41 <br />possible; 42 <br />• To investigate funding sources, including requests for increases in the city budget, designated 43 <br />for parks and green spaces; 44 <br />• To seek new areas for additional parks, natural areas, walking paths, bikeways, and green 45 <br />space corridors; 46 <br />2
