2015 Annual Report • Police Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota

20 | Page

The team applied for, and was awarded, grant funding to purchase protective equipment.
Helmets and personal body armor was purchased for team members.

An essential goal of East Metro SWAT has always been to provide responsive, effective, and
high quality services to the communities that the team serves. The partnership of the agencies
involved provides a well trained and equipped tactical team capable of addressing high stress
and high risk incidents. This is accomplished in a cost effective manner through partnering and
sharing of resources. It allows the St. Anthony Police Department access to greater resources
and a flexible and capable tactical team with minimal impact on our budget and Patrol
operations. A side effect is a deeper working relationship with surrounding agencies, which
results in more effective and efficient police work across jurisdictions. The Police Department
has found success with this unique partnership for over thirteen years. We are looking forward
to building on the quality and value of this investment into 2016.
