2015 Annual Report • Police Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br /> <br /> <br />22 | Page <br /> <br /> <br />Chief Ohl was invited to Hamline University where he met with students in a course called <br />“City Lab.” He lectured about the different policing models employed throughout the state of <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Sgt. Jon Mangseth stopped by the Wilshire Park school carnival and visited with children and <br />parents. <br /> <br />Officer Mark Mosby was invited to Faith United Methodist Church where he spoke to a group <br />of fifteen adults about life as a police officer. Questions were answered regarding diversity of <br />officers on the department, diversity training, militarization <br />of police departments, body cameras, media portrayal of <br />police, distrust of police and other assorted topics. <br /> <br />Officer Mike Huddle met with the Veterans Club at <br />Chandler Place. He provided a presentation to the group <br />about the history of the St. Anthony Police Department and <br />the varied roles officers play in the community. <br /> <br />Officer Jonathan Schlingman, DARE Officer, volunteered to <br />join 5th grade Wilshire Park Elementary School students on <br />a ski trip to Wild Mountain. A great time was had by all. <br /> <br />March, the “Cops vs Kids” basketball challenge was back <br />for another fun night of boards. The challenge took place at <br />the St. Anthony High School gym. Six student teams each <br />played a twenty minute game against the St. Anthony <br />Police team. Each student team gave the police team a run for their money, with the student <br />teams ending up with victories in all games. Most important, fun was had by all participants. <br /> <br />Lieutenant Jeff Scholl attended a tribute to women veterans at Chandler place. Over eighty <br />Veterans were honored for their service. <br /> <br />Officer Moore attended the Cub Scout <br />Pinewood Derby race at Faith United <br />Church, where he competed in the celebrity <br />race. Results indicate we need a new car! <br /> <br />Chief John Ohl, CSO Ismail Turay, along <br />with Fire Chief Mark Sitarz and Firefighter <br />Mattie Jaros, participated in the Polar <br />Plunge for Special Olympics.
