2015 Annual Report • Police Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br /> <br /> <br />25 | Page <br /> <br />July, Due to a suspicious incident call in Lauderdale which was a phone scam, and several <br />internet scams reported in Lauderdale, Falcon Heights and St. Anthony, it was decided to <br />prepare a safety bulletin. The Bulletin gave a brief overview of the types of scams which have <br />been reported to our department and departments around us recently. It also reinforced for <br />residents, the need to call Police prior to falling prey to one of these scams. <br /> <br />Officer Kiel Rushton went to area banks, in response to a recent robbery trends occurring across <br />the metro area. General premise security checks and situational awareness topics were <br />discussed. Most bank managers/supervisors were already aware of robberies, and some <br />already had surveillance from their respective security departments. <br /> <br />August, forty two St. Anthony neighborhood groups joined thousands across the state to <br />celebrate MN Night to Unite. This was our 31st year of ce lebrating this special night in St. <br />Anthony. Cub Foods supported this event by donating <br />pails of ice cream to all those that hosted a block party. <br /> <br />June, July and August are particularly busy months for <br />the SAPD, and the crime prevention unit, as a lot of <br />planning goes into ensuring that events like MN Night to <br />Unite, Villagefest, and the 5K run/walk, sponsored by <br />Fitness Crossroads, go off as planned. Once again, our <br />police reserve unit donated countless hours to ensure <br />that these events were safe for all who attended. <br /> <br />September, Sgt. Jon Mangseth participated in a table top <br />exercise with city staff and members of Ramsey County Emergency Management. The topic <br />was an oil railcar accident. The exercise was moderated by Fire Chief Sitarz. <br /> <br />Sgt. Dan Diegnau, CSO Ismail Turay, Reserve Officer Trent Studer and Police Officer Shane <br />Hess attended a 911 flag raising ceremony, at the Legacy of St. Anthony, honoring police and <br />fire officers. <br /> <br />October, Officer Dale Moore attended the Chandler place <br />resident council meeting and gave a crime prevention <br />presentation to attendees. <br /> <br />Officer Jim South received an award from the St. Anthony <br />Kiwanis for his work with youth, in the community, <br />during a monthly Kiwanis meeting.
