Sustainability <br />STORMWATER MECHANICAL SEPARATOR <br />MWMO Grant funded Project to be constructed in Summer/Fall 2014 - The Underground storm water <br />treatment system will divert runoff from the City of St. Anthony and CSAH 88 into an underground <br />storm treatment system. This system will have primary treatment hydrodynamic separator which will <br />utilize gravity and the storm water fl ow to settle and trap particulate matter. It will have a secondary <br />treatment system to remove soluble pollutants. The secondary treatment system is intended to act <br />as a research site to help determine effectiveness of available treatment technologies such as alum <br />fl occulation, ionization, ozone, iron fi ltration and other future technologies. <br />SUSTAINABILITY FESTIVAL <br />In November, the City of St Anthony <br />collaborated with the City of Falcon Heights <br />and Lauderdale and the University of Minnesota <br />to hold a Sustainability Festival to educate <br />citizens on sustainability practices that can be <br />done on their property. The event showcased <br />student projects on implementable projects for <br />residents, connected residents to agencies and <br />groups with sustainability goals and initiatives, <br />and provided an opportunity for residents to <br />hear from Ellen Anderson, the Senior Advisory <br />to the Governor on Energy and Environment at <br />the State of Minnesota. <br />REGIONAL INDICATOR’S INITIATIVE <br />The City of St. Anthony is now a participant in the Regional Indicators Initiative <br />Project which is a collaborative effort involving other metropolitan cities towards <br />the common goal of being more energy effi cient. The City will be compiling data <br />regarding energy consumption (residential and commercial/industrial) and will assess <br />and evaluate ways to reduce areas which seem to be in excess. <br />PIC <br />Is pic <br />saved in <br />folder?
