resources administered by City departments may be expanded, modified or <br />discontinued based on City goals, priorities and resources. <br />3.2 PURPOSE <br />The City of St. Anthony wishes to represent itself, its services and its facilities <br />appropriately and consistently on the Internet. The purpose of this policy is to <br />establish procedures for creating a consistent overall social media presence that <br />meets the City's established goals. The City of St. Anthony intends to use social <br />media websites as an additional communication channel to help promote its <br />programs, events, and services. This technology allows news of an event to <br />spread quickly and is a good forum to facilitate public information. The City's <br />official website, located at www.ci.saint- anthonv.mn.us shall remain the City's <br />primary online medium for communicating information to the public. <br />3.3 GENERALPROCEDURES <br />The City of St. Anthony has an overriding interest and expectation in deciding <br />what is "spoken" on behalf of the City on its official social media sites. This policy <br />establishes guidelines for the use of social media by individual City departments. <br />This policy applies to any new, or pre- existing, social media networking websites <br />sponsored by the City of St. Anthony. The City of St. Anthony's website <br />www.ci.saint- anthony.mn.us will remain the City's primary and predominant <br />Internet presence. Whenever possible information posted to the City's social <br />media websites shall also be posted on the City's website (front page or the <br />department's webpage). Content posted to City of St. Anthony social media sites <br />will regularly contain links directing users back to the City's official website for <br />more in -depth information, forms, documents or online services necessary to <br />conduct business with the City of St. Anthony. <br />1. The best, most appropriate, City of St. Anthony uses of social media tools fall <br />generally into two categories: <br />a. As channels for disseminating time - sensitive information as quickly as <br />possible. <br />b. As marketing /promotional channels that increase the City's ability to <br />broadcast its messages to the widest possible audience. <br />2. The City Clerk shall be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the City's <br />primary webpage. Each department will be responsible for adhering to the City's <br />record retention policy for materials that are maintained on the various <br />departments sections of the City webpage and social media sites. <br />3. Department heads must receive permission from the City Manager prior to <br />starting a secondary form of social communication for their respective <br />departments. <br />
