2016 Annual Report • Public Works Department • St. Anthony Village, Minnesota <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />18 <br /> <br />VII. 2016 PARKS COMMISSION <br />The Parks Commission consists of five members appointed by City Council. Terms are for three <br />years with appointments made in January. In 2016, the Parks Commission consisted of the <br />following members: <br /> Scott Bentz <br /> Erin Jordahl Redlin <br /> Therese Bellinger <br /> Sarah Ksiazek <br /> Marnie Overman <br />In addition to these members, there are two representatives; one from the St. Anthony New- <br />Brighton School District and one the St. Anthony Sports Boosters Organizations. <br />In 2016, the Parks Commission adopted the “Parks Commission Work Plan.” The Work Plan is a <br />schedule of objectives established by Parks Commission and City Council, which provides an <br />efficient method of prioritizing projects and achieving the most important goals as identified <br />the most important goals as identified by the Parks Commission and City Council to work on <br />during 2016: <br /> Review and making recommendations on parks, trails, and open green space. <br /> Review and making recommendations on proposed City Code amendments, <br />Comprehensive Plan amendments, and other long range planning documents that <br />deal with parks, trails, and open space. <br /> Become a Tree City USA <br />For 2017, the Work Plan for the Parks Commission consists of the following items: <br /> Explore sustainability initiatives <br /> Explore pedestrian & bike friendly routes including sidewalks <br /> Explore and assess pocket parks for added amenities (ie. Benches) <br /> Joint Meeting with Planning Commission <br /> Explore water conservation initiatives and partner with school to create public <br />education posters, working with Rice Creek and MWMO watersheds <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
