Each grant participant
was then assisted in gathering estimates and
implementing recommended modifi cations.
Common features that were implemented
include: grab bars, handrails, comfort height
toilets, and hand held shower heads.
Access Solutions also provided community
education sessions for residents to provide
information and resources about making homes
safe to promote aging in place. These sessions
were free and open to the public.
In addition to the community education
sessions, a seminar about Universal Design is
scheduled for 2015 to provide education to area
professionals in the building and remodeling
industry about aging in place. This is an
important outreach opportunity to improve
quality of life for residents and promote aging in
place for our older residents.
