Kuykendall asked the maintenance of the homes. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Mr. Halet replied that the homes would be constructed with a marine grade plywood, so there 6 <br />should be no problems with rotting. He stated that the homes are intended to last for years. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Commissioner Bentz asked the size of the houses. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Mr. Halet provided details on the size of the bat houses, estimating 18 inches by eight inches. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Commissioner Bellinger asked if these houses have been seen in another city. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Mr. Halet replied that he has seen the homes in parts of northern Minnesota. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Commissioner Bellinger asked how they will know if the project is successful. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Mr. Halet replied that if a bat is seen around the light post, you will know the home is being 19 <br />lived in. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Public Works Director Hartman noted that Mr. Halet will be building six houses to be 22 <br />distributed between two parks. He asked if Mr. Halet will be building the houses himself or 23 <br />whether the Troop will assist in building the houses. 24 <br /> 25 <br />Mr. Halet replied that it will be a group project. He stated that the houses will be built in his 26 <br />grandfather’s garage with help from other members in his troop. He stated that the intent is 27 <br />for him to lead the project and not actually build the houses himself. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Public Works Director Hartman asked when the project would be completed. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Mr. Halet anticipated that the project would be complete near late April but noted that his 32 <br />schedule is flexible. He stated that once the build is done, he will correspond with staff to 33 <br />determine the best time for the installation of the houses. 34 <br /> 35 <br />B. Presentation by Citizens for Sustainability 36 <br /> 37 <br />Kristin Mroz, Citizens for Sustainability (CFS), reviewed the 2018 roadmap which puts 38 <br />emphasis on focus with the government, community, and schools. She reviewed the potential 39 <br />partners for each category and possible opportunities. She stated that on February 21st there 40 <br />was a meeting with the parks staff and looks forward to continuing discussions and discussion 41 <br />of potential collaborations that could integrate sustainability into the parks. 42 <br /> 43 <br />Emily Wallace, CFS, stated that there will be Earth Day activities on April 21st, meeting at 44 <br />Silver Point Park.
