Parks Commission Regular Meeting Minutes <br />December 3, 2018 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br /> <br />Additional proposed powers and duties language to be added to the existing list are: 1 <br /> 2 <br />j. To make recommendations to and advise the City Council and staff on 3 <br />environmental sustainability issues. 4 <br /> 5 <br />k. To prepare, revise and maintain a comprehensive, long-term plan and goals 6 <br />regarding environmental sustainability, 7 <br /> 8 <br />l. To periodically review, re-evaluate, and update the comprehensive 9 <br />environmental sustainability plan and goals to reflect current and future needs of the 10 <br />City, 11 <br /> 12 <br />m. To make recommendations to and advise the City Council and staff regarding 13 <br />policies and proposals that aid the community in reaching environmental sustainability 14 <br />goals, 15 <br /> 16 <br />n. To serve as a liaison to the community on policies, practices, and proposals 17 <br />relating to environmental sustainability. 18 <br /> 19 <br />The City Council has tasked the Parks Commission with some Sustainability issues in the 20 <br />past. The proposed changes would be recommended to change the City Code. 21 <br /> 22 <br /> Motion by Commissioner Ksiazek, seconded by Commissioner Overman, to recommend the 23 <br />City Council begin the process of changing City Code to reflect the changes requested by the 24 <br />Parks Commission. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Motion carried unanimously. 27 <br /> 28 <br />D. Minnesota GreenCorp Presentation. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Ms. Minette Saulog, City of St. Anthony GreenCorp Member for 2018 – 2019 presented a 31 <br />power point with information on her background, the MN GreenCorps Program, Service 32 <br />Projects including City Energy Assessments, Encouraging Green Transportation, Energy 33 <br />Efficiency Programs, and General Professional Training. Ms. Saulog also gave updates on the 34 <br />Tech Dump and Fix-It Clinic, the Sustainability Fair, and the Organics Drop-Off Site. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Commissioner Jordahl Redlin asked Ms. Saulog if part of her green transportation efforts 37 <br />would include looking at the snow plowing of sidewalks policies within the City. Ms. Saulog 38 <br />stated she is interested in looking at that. 39 <br /> 40 <br />E. Citizens for Sustainability Updates. 41 <br /> 42 <br />Ms. Lona Doolan provided an update on the Sustainability Initiatives within the City. She 43 <br />reviewed the Sustainability Fair along with 2018 Sustainability Successes. The 2019 goals 44 <br />including Projects and Outreach were presented. 45 <br /> 46
