That is why we take pride in <br />training our firefighters as much as we can. Firefighters need to retain everything they <br />are taught over their career and their training never ends. Firefighters are called upon <br />in the time of need, when this happens people expect them to know how to solve the <br />problem. <br />In 2018 we were able to get three firefighter candidates through our training program. <br />This is one of our smaller classes to go through training, but over the years we have <br />refined our hiring process to get only the best candidates. Below you find some examples of <br />what our training looks like on paper. <br />o First they must go through the hiring process and wanting to become a firefighter. <br />o Complete an application <br />o Live within 9 minutes of the fire station <br />o Written exam <br />o Oral interview <br />o Background check <br />o Doctor physical <br />o Physical agility assessment <br />o Psychological assessment <br />As soon as hiring process is complete candidates meet and set up a training schedule. <br />o Firefighter 1 <br />o Firefighter 2 <br />o Hazmat <br />o Emergency medical responder or Emergency medical technician <br />o Equipment familiarity <br />o Driving <br />o Pumping <br />Candidates that go through our training have a long road ahead of them as listed above. Basic <br />firefighter classes which include firefighter 1, 2 and hazmat are over 180 hours. Medical training
