Parks Commission Meeting Minutes
April 12, 2004
Page 2
Chair Jindra suggested contacting the Music Director to inquire about the possibilities of the jazz band
or concert band's participation. She noted that the date is tentative adding that once they decide on a
final date they can then begin to publicize the event to the general public.

Chair Jindra noted that Mr. Koechlien is present and asked for a status on the Parks.

Mr. Koechlien reviewed the punch list items with the Commission. He stated that the areas around the
pavilion would be completed in time for the Grand Opening. He indicated that John Hook is responsible
for the fields and would touch base with him for an update. He stated that they are trying to start the
seeding noting that it has been difficult with the wetness. He stated that approximately 75% of the
hockey boards have been removed and that they should be able to begin installing the new boards as
early as tomorrow. He stated that they are still working on the batting cages and indicated that they
have received a couple of estimates for the installation. Chair Jindra noted that the Sports Boosters are
very anxious to get the batting cages done in time for the season.

Mr. Koechlien reviewed the areas where they plan to place asphalt, including curbs noting that the costs
would be fairly expensive. Chair Jindra asked if the asphalt would be completed in time for the Grand
Opening. She also asked if the northwest fields were extended to the 75-foot capacity for the second
base. Public Works Director Hartman confirmed and reviewed the schedule with the Commission. He
stated that they would need to contact Troy regarding the second base.
Chair Jindra asked Mr. Koechlien if there has been any discussion with the School Board regarding the
water drainage issues. Mr. Koechlien reviewed their concerns noting that it has always been their
intention to deal with the drainage. Public Works Director Hartman stated that Augie has put together a
list that includes costs for the storm grating between upper and lower parking lot. He indicated that the
school has taken care of that issue. He stated that the second item was to add a second bituminous curb
to help with the flow of water. He stated that the costs were estimated at $20,000 and the school did not
have the funds.

Chair Jindra asked if hay bales were going away. Public Works Director Hartman confirmed that the
hay bales would be removed noting that they were for seasonal use and reviewed with the Commission.

Chair Jindra asked if the practice field had been sealed. Public Works Director Hartman confirmed that
both the football and practice fields were done.

Chair Jindra stated they would review again when they tour next month.

Mr. Koechlien referenced the tree replacement stating that he is not sure if they have been in the area.
He stated that he would prefer to wait to see what is budding noting that this would give them a more
accurate count for replacement. He stated that he would walk the area with them and review the
punchlist at the same time.

Commissioner Ganley asked if they know when they plan to go in and determine what trees are good or
not. Mr. Koechlien stated they would begin to review the area in early May.
