Update for Central Park Grand Opening <br />3 <br />4 Chair Jindra stated that the subcommittees have been meeting and working hard getting ready for the <br />5 Grand Opening. She provided the Commission with an overview stating that the Grand Opening is <br />6 scheduled for Tuesday, June 29, 2004 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. She stated Commissioner Knudson <br />7 took very good pictures of the park that were used on the flyers announcing the Grand Opening. She <br />8 stated that the flyers have been posted throughout the area and provided the Commission with copies for <br />9 their review. She stated that Commissioner Knudson took some very good pictures of the park noted <br />10 that the St. Anthony Jazz Band, as well as the Splatter Sisters, would provide the music for the evening <br />11 and reviewed the refreshments and additional entertainment with the Commission. She stated that they <br />12 are in need of volunteers to assist with distributing refreshments and helping out throughout the evening. <br />13 She encouraged the Residents of St. Anthony to come out and visit, take a tour of the park and enjoy the <br />14 food and entertainment. <br />15 <br />16 Chair Jindra stated that she has received a couple of telephone calls regarding the wet deck noting that <br />17 the comments have been very positive. She noted that the residents are beginning to utilize the park <br />18 amenities and explained that the new jet spray system is managed by a motion detector and asked if the <br />19 water was shut off when the park closes. Public Works Director Hallman confirmed that it is on a timer <br />20 and reviewed with the Commission. <br />z2 Mr. Zurbey asked where the bands would be located. Chair Jindra explained that they have rented a <br />23 stage that would be placed on the basketball court and reviewed the location with the Commission. She <br />24 stated that the majority of the entertainment and activities would be located around the pavilion area, <br />25 which will encourage people to move around the area, view the amenities and tour the building. <br />26 <br />27 Chair Jindra reviewed the schedule of events stating that each band would play for approximately one <br />28 hour each. She stated that time is scheduled between each band for comments from City Officials and <br />29 the Dedication Ceremony. Public Works Director Hartman asked if the entertainment would use the <br />30 same stage as the speakers. Chair Jindra confirmed that the speakers and entertainment would share use <br />31 of the stage. <br />32 <br />33 Vice Chair Koehntop asked if there would be a sound system. Chair Jindra stated that the Splatter <br />34 Sisters would probably share their sound system. She stated that she would check with the Splatter <br />35 Sisters to see if sharing the system would be a possibility. <br />36 <br />37 Chair Jindra reviewed the list of invitees with the Commission stating that she had also contacted <br />38 Senator John Marty. She stated that he would not be available as he is currently in Europe. Council <br />39 Member Stille suggested including Jan Weisner. <br />40 <br />41 Vice Chair Koehntop asked if there would be electrical connections. Public Works Director Hartman <br />42 stated that electrical connections would be available and reviewed with the Commission. <br />44 Chair Jindra stated that the field closest to the pavilion would be available for general use that evening <br />45 adding that the outer fields would be in use by other groups during the program. <br />
