Parks Commission Meeting Minutes <br />June 14, 2004 <br />Page 3 <br />1 <br />2 V. REPORTS. <br />3 <br />4 A. Community Services. <br />5 <br />6 None. <br />7 <br />8 B. School Board. <br />9 <br />10 School Board Representative Diane Dunn stated that on June 4th 109 students graduated from St. <br />11 Anthony Senior High School. She stated that both the Choir and the band are preparing for their annual <br />12 trips and reviewed. She stated that she has also heard a number of compliments regarding the park <br />13 adding that she wanted to be sure to pass on the good words to the Commission. <br />14 <br />15 C. Sports Boosters. <br />16 <br />17 Mr. Zurbey stated that they have gotten a lot of positive comments on the fields and agreed that the <br />18 fields have turned out very nicely. He thanked Coach Urdahl and the players for the additional work <br />19 they have done. He explained that currently anyone playing on the varsity fields is also responsible for <br />20 helping maintain the area. He stated that they would like to set this as a precedent for the other fields <br />noting that there is not enough equipment available to implement out to all of the fields. He stated that <br />z2 when they are responsible for the maintenance the players begin to take ownership and pride in the <br />23 fields. He stated that he would like to acknowledge Kathy Knapp noting that she and her group did a <br />24 great job this year with the scheduling. He stated that the lights are working great noting that they are <br />25 very localized and not overlapping into the neighborhoods. He referenced the sprinlder system and <br />26 asked Public Works Director Hartman if the system should be coming on during rainy periods. He <br />27 expressed concerned and asked if this would be resolved. Public Works Director Hartman <br />28 acknowledged that they had two problems with the sprinlder system noting that the rain sensor was not <br />29 functioning and there was a wiring problem at the control box. He stated that both have been resolved. <br />30 <br />31 Mr. Zurbey stated that some of the fields have low spots that could use additional agriline and reviewed <br />32 the areas with the Commission. He asked what would be done along the batting cage area. Public <br />33 Works Director Hartman stated that he discussed this issue with Mr. Koechlien adding that they have <br />34 decided to move forward with getting outside pricing on the bituminous curb. <br />35 <br />36 Chair Jindra stated that there is a considerable amount of puddling at the bottom of the stairs by the <br />37 main entrance. She expressed concerns stating that water should not be collecting or sitting for long <br />38 periods of time in that area. Public Works Director Hartman stated that he discussed this issue with Mr. <br />39 Koechlien and it was explained that this is something Veit should take care of. Chair Jindra stated that <br />40 it is a very large puddle and asked that it be resolved. Public Works Director Hartman stated that he <br />41 would follow-up with Mr. Koechlien and update the Commission. <br />42 <br />VI. OTHER BUSINESS. <br />44 <br />45 Chair Jindra referenced the May Bulletin noting that there was an article regarding a Community <br />
