Parks Commission Meeting Minutes <br />March 10, 2003 <br />Page 9 <br />1 costs for the following four items: pitchers mound, erosion control, re -grading of the field and <br />2 re -seeding. He stated that he has concerns with Items 8, 16, 23, 24, and the new varsity baseball <br />3 fields. Mr. Koechlein stated that he only has an estimate. He stated that he would verify the <br />4 numbers and report back to the Commission. <br />5 <br />6 Public Works Director Hartman asked if Change Order 21 has been completed. Mr. Koechlein <br />7 stated this it has been completed. <br />8 <br />9 Chair Jindra stated that at the last meeting Mr. Kost made it very clear about the drain tile and <br />10 erosion control. She stated that it was their assumption that this was being taken care of noting <br />11 that they would have to find a way to absorb some of the costs. She asked that the re -grading be <br />12 clarified. She stated that additional funding is not an option. <br />13 <br />14 Mr. Zurbey stated that a letter had been sent to the Chair regarding the landscaping. He asked if <br />15 any of the landscaping had been removed. Mr. Koechlein assured the Commission that none of <br />16 the landscaping had been removed. Council Liaison Sparks further clarified that the landscaping <br />17 is for the playground area. <br />18 <br />19 Mr. Zurbey asked Mr. Koechlein to explain the swail. Mr. Koechlein stated that the swail would <br />20 be located at the far north end adding that it would be approximately two feet deep. He reviewed <br />the location with Commission stating that it would be approximately 1.5 feet below the outfield <br />2z fence. He explained that the swail would be an additional 10-feet in order to get a positive <br />23 drainage. Chair Jindra stated they would address the size of the field with Gary and asked Mr. <br />24 Zurbey if he saw any of this as a problem. <br />25 <br />26 Mr. Zurbey stated that they had originally been told that they would get a regulation size field <br />27 adding that the only thing that has changed is that the grate was removed from the parking lot. <br />28 He asked if they had crowned the field. Mr. Koechlein stated that the field has been crowned. <br />29 <br />30 Mr. Zurbey asked how the water from the top parking lot is affecting baseball field. Mr. <br />31 Koechlein explained that for the most part it does not affect the baseball field. He reviewed the <br />32 water drainage flow with the Commission. <br />33 <br />34 Resident stated that the minimum for a high school soccer field is 55 yards by 100 yards. He <br />35 explained that it would be considered a regulation size field at 61 yards. Mr. Koechlein stated <br />36 that the size of the field would be 61 yards after the swail adding that it would be regulation size. <br />37 <br />38 C. Gary Palm, Athletic Director, Troy Urdahl — Baseball Dugouts. <br />39 <br />40 Troy Urdahl reviewed the baseball dugout sizes with the Commission. <br />41 <br />42 Chair Jindra stated that they would need to address concession. Mr. Urdahl reviewed the ideal <br />location for a concession and bleachers with the Commission. Mr. Koechlein stated that the area <br />44 Mr. Urdahl suggested for the concession would really cramp the rest of the areas of park. <br />45 <br />
