Parks Commission Meeting Minutes
April 14, 2003
Page 2
1 Ms. Skrivseth asked if the material for the roof would be shiny or dull. Mr. Forbrook stated that there
2 would be a slight sheen to it adding that it would not cause a glare.
3
4 Mr. Forbrook referenced drawings of the area stating that they have been working with RomTech on the
5 park layout. He provided the Commission with an overview of the park layout that included the parking
6 lot, warming house structure and the color scheme.
7
8 Mr. Zurbey asked if the skylights would be the same as what is shown in the drawing. Mr. Forbrook
9 confirmed that they would be the same.
10
11 Mr. Forbrook reviewed the window locations and views with the Commission. Chair Jindra asked if
12 they have specs available that would include detail for the type of skylights that would be installed. Mr.
13 Forbrook stated that they are working out the details adding that a copy of the specs would be available
14 shortly for the Commission to review.
15
16 Mr. Forbrook referenced the flooring stating that it would be concrete. Chair Jindra noted that the
17 present plan stated that the use of the shelter would only be as a warming house. She asked the
18 Commission if there was any intent for other uses in the future and if so, should they reconsider the type
19 of flooring. Ms. Skrivseth confirmed that no other community groups intend to use the building. Mr.
20 Forbrook stated that they could provide rubber -interlock tiles to place on the top of the cement when
needed.
23 Commissioner Jensen asked if the heat coils would be covered with the rubber matting. Mr. Forbrook
24 stated that the heat coils would be under the rubber matting adding that it would not hinder the operation
25 of the heat coils.
26
27 Commissioner Ganley asked if they have considered additional space for a patio or picnic area in front
28 of the building. Mr. Forbrook stated that it was designed with a patio area in mind. He explained that,
29 in the future, a picnic area could easily be placed in front of the building and suggested placing a
30 concrete slab for that purpose.
31
32 Commissioner Ganley clarified that the basketball court would be moved. Mr. Forbrook confirmed
33 explaining that initially the court was approximately 17 to 19 feet from the building. He reviewed the
34 location and size of the court with the Commission. He explained that two trees had to be moved noting
35 that the trees were small. He reviewed the location of the bicycle rack stating that it would be at the
36 edge of the basketball court. He noted that if the Commission preferred a different location that the rack
37 could be moved.
38
39 Mr. Forbrook reviewed the project bid process with the Commission. He noted that the design is based
40 on suggestions from RomTech adding that RomTech would be one of the companies placing a bid on
41 the project. He stated that he is aware of two other companies that are considering placing a bid on the
42 project. He explained that the bids would be two-part, one for the structure and one for the labor. He
reviewed the bid schedule with the Commission stating that RomTech would have their working
4 drawings available for review April 24, 2003.
