Parks Commission Meeting Minutes <br />April 14, 2003 <br />Page 2 <br />1 Ms. Skrivseth asked if the material for the roof would be shiny or dull. Mr. Forbrook stated that there <br />2 would be a slight sheen to it adding that it would not cause a glare. <br />3 <br />4 Mr. Forbrook referenced drawings of the area stating that they have been working with RomTech on the <br />5 park layout. He provided the Commission with an overview of the park layout that included the parking <br />6 lot, warming house structure and the color scheme. <br />7 <br />8 Mr. Zurbey asked if the skylights would be the same as what is shown in the drawing. Mr. Forbrook <br />9 confirmed that they would be the same. <br />10 <br />11 Mr. Forbrook reviewed the window locations and views with the Commission. Chair Jindra asked if <br />12 they have specs available that would include detail for the type of skylights that would be installed. Mr. <br />13 Forbrook stated that they are working out the details adding that a copy of the specs would be available <br />14 shortly for the Commission to review. <br />15 <br />16 Mr. Forbrook referenced the flooring stating that it would be concrete. Chair Jindra noted that the <br />17 present plan stated that the use of the shelter would only be as a warming house. She asked the <br />18 Commission if there was any intent for other uses in the future and if so, should they reconsider the type <br />19 of flooring. Ms. Skrivseth confirmed that no other community groups intend to use the building. Mr. <br />20 Forbrook stated that they could provide rubber -interlock tiles to place on the top of the cement when <br />needed. <br />23 Commissioner Jensen asked if the heat coils would be covered with the rubber matting. Mr. Forbrook <br />24 stated that the heat coils would be under the rubber matting adding that it would not hinder the operation <br />25 of the heat coils. <br />26 <br />27 Commissioner Ganley asked if they have considered additional space for a patio or picnic area in front <br />28 of the building. Mr. Forbrook stated that it was designed with a patio area in mind. He explained that, <br />29 in the future, a picnic area could easily be placed in front of the building and suggested placing a <br />30 concrete slab for that purpose. <br />31 <br />32 Commissioner Ganley clarified that the basketball court would be moved. Mr. Forbrook confirmed <br />33 explaining that initially the court was approximately 17 to 19 feet from the building. He reviewed the <br />34 location and size of the court with the Commission. He explained that two trees had to be moved noting <br />35 that the trees were small. He reviewed the location of the bicycle rack stating that it would be at the <br />36 edge of the basketball court. He noted that if the Commission preferred a different location that the rack <br />37 could be moved. <br />38 <br />39 Mr. Forbrook reviewed the project bid process with the Commission. He noted that the design is based <br />40 on suggestions from RomTech adding that RomTech would be one of the companies placing a bid on <br />41 the project. He stated that he is aware of two other companies that are considering placing a bid on the <br />42 project. He explained that the bids would be two-part, one for the structure and one for the labor. He <br />reviewed the bid schedule with the Commission stating that RomTech would have their working <br />4 drawings available for review April 24, 2003. He stated that their expected completion date for this <br />45 project would be in September 2003. <br />
