Parks Commission Meeting Minutes <br />April 14, 2003 <br />Page 7 <br />1 <br />2 <br />3 Mr. Zurbey asked if portions of the area would remain undeveloped. Public Works Director Hartman <br />4 stated that there would be some open areas noting that no matter where you place a fire station it is <br />5 going to impact some of the residents. Ms. Skrivseth stated that the location of the fire station does not <br />6 really impact their lifestyle. She stated that it is rarely a topic of conversation amongst the neighbors <br />7 adding that she rarely notices the noise. She further stated that she notices the police sirens more so <br />8 than sound from the fire station. <br />9 <br />10 Chair Jindra stated that the Commission is responsible for updating the City Council on a monthly basis <br />11 and suggested that Commissioner Jensen represent the Commission on this issue at the next City <br />12 Council meeting. Commissioner Jensen clarified that this is a suggestion to consider and that this <br />13 information should be passed on to City Council. He stated that the Park Commission should decide if <br />14 this is a feasible location. <br />15 <br />16 Public Works Director Hartman suggested discussing this issue at their joint workshop with the City <br />17 Council. Council Liaison Sparks stated that the Commission should not wait until the workshop to <br />18 address this issue. She encouraged the Commission to address the City Council at the next meeting. <br />19 <br />20 Commissioner Jensen agreed to represent the Commission at the next City Council meeting. He stated <br />that he would present their concerns and asked for support from the group. He clarified that the Park <br />LL Commission is recommending this location for park expansion and that a different location be <br />23 considered for the fire station. <br />24 <br />25 V. REPORTS. <br />26 <br />27 A. Community Services. <br />28 <br />29 Diane Skrivseth provided the Commission with an update on the Community Services summer <br />30 brochure. She stated that the brochure is in the process of being delivered. She stated that an <br />31 announcement was included that states Central Park is closed with anticipated open date in April 2004. <br />32 <br />33 Council Liaison Sparks stated that there is a proposal to change the way Community Services is to be <br />34 funded and encouraged the Commission to write a letter of support to maintain and grandfather a levy to <br />35 provide funds for Park and Recreation. Commissioner Wagner agreed stating that the Community <br />36 Services Department needs their support on this issue. <br />37 <br />38 B. School Board. <br />39 <br />40 Denise Dunn provided the Commission with an update on the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 15, <br />41 2003 stating that they would be discussing budget issues. She referenced the enrollment process stating <br />42 that a lot of effort has gone into developing this process. She provided the Commission with a brief <br />overview of the process changes. <br />44 <br />45 C. Sports Boosters. <br />
