Parks Commission Meeting Minutes <br />May 12, 2003 <br />Page 2 <br />1 seeding, by the end of this month. He clarified that the parking lot and playground equipment would be <br />2 installed at a later date. He noted that the schedule had been pushed back due to scheduling issues with <br />3 the wetdeck crew. He stated that they would also be addressing the erosion control issues and reviewed <br />4 with the Commission. He stated that the tree plantings would take place in the June timeframe adding <br />5 that he would confirm the schedule with the landscaper. <br />6 <br />7 Vice Chair Koehntop stated that the landscaping has to be completed before the end of the project. Mr. <br />8 Koechlein confirmed that the landscaping would be completed before the project end date. <br />9 <br />10 Vice Chair Koehntop clarified that there would not be a decrease in the number of trees to be planted. <br />11 Mr. Koechlein confirmed that there would be no change or decrease in the number trees to be planted. <br />12 He stated that he would verify the types of plantings and trees with the landscaper. He noted that there <br />13 would be a one-year warranty from the time of planting and reviewed the warranty agreement with the <br />14 Commission. <br />15 <br />16 Council Liaison Sparks asked for clarification on how they would water the trees. Public Works <br />17 Director Hartman explained that the first 90-days would be the responsibility of the contractor adding <br />18 that at the end of the 90-day period it would then be turned over to the City for ongoing maintenance. <br />19 He further explained that they would utilize the irrigation system or a tanker truck if needed to ensure <br />20 that the trees are watered regularly. <br />22 Chair Jindra referenced the project budget and asked if any new expenditures have occurred that the <br />23 Commission should be aware of. Mr. Koechlein stated that nothing has changed. <br />24 <br />25 Chair Jindra stated that the Commission took a tour of the entire Central Park prior to the meeting. She <br />26 explained that they identified several problem areas and suggested that the Commission review the <br />27 issues. She asked Troy Urdahl to provide the Commission with a review of his concerns for the Varsity <br />28 Field. <br />29 <br />30 Troy Urdahl, Varsity Baseball Coach asked for an update on the pitcher's mound. Mr. Koechlein <br />31 reviewed the issues with the pitcher's mound stating that it would be taken care of with no additional <br />32 charges. He explained that they would add clay and widen the radius of the mound to what it should be. <br />33 <br />34 Chair Jindra asked for clarification regarding the installation of the bases. Mr. Urdahl suggested <br />35 surveying and staking out the location for each base. He reviewed the issues and explained the layout of <br />36 the bases to the Commission. Mr. Koechlein stated that he would address the issues and update the <br />37 Commission. <br />38 <br />39 Chair Jindra referenced the irrigation issues on the field and asked for further clarification. Mr. <br />40 Koechlein referenced third base stating that they would add more materials in the area behind third base. <br />41 He referenced the erosion issues in right field stating that they did install a swail in the right field. He <br />42 stated that they would install a vent along the back area to catch some of the erosion. He explained that <br />until the sand is established that it would continue to be an issue. <br />44 <br />45 Chair Jindra noted that if they add erosion control measures that there would be an additional cost.
