Parks Commission Meeting Minutes <br />May 12, 2003 <br />Page 5 <br />1 there has been considerable rain. <br />2 <br />3 Vice Chair Koehntop asked if hay bales would help. Mr. Koechlein stated that it would not work in the <br />4 flat areas with sand as it gets too saturated sitting on the clay. <br />5 <br />6 Mr. Zurbey noted the comment that time is not important and expressed his disagreement stating that it <br />7 has to be done now. Public Works Director Hartman agreed stating that the decision on erosion issues <br />8 would not hold up the completion date. <br />9 <br />10 Chair Jindra suggested that Public Works Director Hartman and Mr. Anderson meet to discuss the <br />11 budget issues. Public Works Director Hartman stated that the contractor has been making reasonable <br />12 attempts to address these issues. He explained that they need to install an erosion blanket. Chair Jindra <br />13 agreed and asked Public Works Director Hartman to schedule a meeting with Mr. Anderson to <br />14 determine the costs ASAP and provide the Commission with an update. <br />15 <br />16 Mr. Anderson asked if the parking lot would have a cement curve. Mr. Koechlein stated that a curve is <br />17 in the proposal. Mr. Anderson suggested that the parking lot could be constructed with bituminous and <br />18 no curbing. He stated that the curbing is very expensive. Mr. Koechlein stated that he could review that <br />19 option in addition to other possible options for the Commission to consider. <br />20 <br />' Mr. Koechlein clarified Chair Jindra wanted the mileage around the park. He reviewed the mileage with <br />2z the Commission stating that it totals 3/4 of a mile. Chair Jindra asked if a measure wheel could be used to <br />23 determine the entire mileage for trails. <br />24 <br />25 V. Silver Point Park Discussion <br />26 <br />27 Chair Jindra asked for an update on the building schedule and bid process. Public Works Director <br />28 Hartman stated that they have a pre -bid conference scheduled for May 22, 2003 and that the bid process <br />29 would open on June 3, 2003. <br />30 <br />31 Commissioner Hallada asked when it would be seeded. Public Works Director Hartman stated that they <br />32 would have to wait until it dries out before seeding. <br />33 <br />34 Public Works Director Hartman reviewed the basketball courts with the Commission noting that an <br />35 addition court could be possible but that it would be smaller than the existing court. <br />36 <br />37 VI.
