Parks Commission Meeting Minutes <br />October 13, 2003 <br />Page 6 <br />1 School Board Representative Denise Dunn stated the last several meetings have involved various <br />2 updates regarding the questions presented on the ballot. She reviewed with the Commission noting the <br />3 revenue advantages. Mr. Dunn further clarified the levies stating that two Public Hearings would be <br />4 held to further clarify the levies to the public. He stated that the first would be held October 21, 2003 at <br />5 9:30 a.m. at the Community Center. He stated that the second hearing would be held on Thursday, <br />6 October 23, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at Wiltshire Park. Ms. Dunn provided the Commission with a copy of the <br />7 levy issues for their review. Mr. Dunn reviewed the Questions and process with the Commission. <br />8 <br />9 C. Sports Boosters. <br />10 <br />11 Mr. Zurbey stated that they are working to identify all users of the fields in order to develop a schedule. <br />12 He stated that they want to rotate the fields to avoid wearing out the area. He stated that the schedule <br />13 would help them to plan and identify available fields in a more efficient fashion. He referenced the <br />14 charitable gambling issues stating that they met with the owner of Spectators to work through the <br />15 process. He stated that the owner is very optimistic noting that profits could double in comparison to <br />16 the past. He stated that they would like to have it all in place by June 1, 2004 and reviewed with the <br />17 Commission. <br />18 <br />19 VI. OTHER BUSINESS. <br />20 <br />Chair Jindra referenced a draft proposal provided to the Commission by School Board Chair Rick Dunn. <br />2z She referenced Item 2 and Item 3 and asked for further clarification. She asked if the School Board was <br />23 open to suggestions for changes to the draft. She asked Mr. Dunn to review the draft proposal with the <br />24 Commission. <br />25 <br />26 Mr. Dunn clarified that the School Board has approved the proposed draft and is presently waiting for <br />27 Council approval of the document. He stated that the School Board is open to feedback from the Parks <br />28 Commission. He stated that they are open to recommendations for changes to Item 2 and clarified that <br />29 the intent of the proposal is to ensure that the School and the City are communicating with respect to <br />30 maintenance of the Park and any changes going forward. He explained that there would be ongoing, <br />31 general meetings to discuss Park related issues and that it is very important to have involvement of the <br />32 Parks Commission early on in any project. He agreed that the Parks Commission should review all <br />33 recommended changes and maintenance to the Park. He assured the Commission that they would be a <br />34 part of the review process and encouraged their input and feedback. <br />35 <br />36 Commissioner Gebhardt asked if formation of the Joint Committee has been advertised. Mr. Dunn <br />37 agreed that the Joint Committee should be advertised and suggested including the information in both <br />38 the City and School Board newsletters. <br />39 <br />40 Commissioner Gebhardt asked for further clarification of the referral process to the Sub -Committee. <br />41 Mr. Dunn reviewed the referral process with the Commission noting that the Joint Sub -Committee <br />42 works through the referrals and includes all involved entities as needed. <br />44 Chair Jindra reviewed the Sub -Committee membership with the Commission. Mr. Dunn provided the <br />45 Commission with a list of the membership for the review. He clarified that membership is not limited to <br />
