Parks Commission Neighborhood Meeting Minutes
December 11, 2000
Page 3
I • asked if the drainage configuration of the park would be altered in any way. He stated the area
2 has been dug extremely steep and doesn't allow for maintenance of the area. Mr. Kost stated
3 additional excavation has not been completed. He indicated additional shrubbery could be added
4 in this area to remove the wild undergrowth.
5 • residents abutting the northern park property line asked that the area be mowed on a more regular
6 basis to minimize the wild undergrowth.
7 Jindra noted this issue would be addressed with the City and the School District to keep these
s areas better maintained.
9 • asked if the parking lot would be altered. Mr. Kost noted the parking lot would be slightly
10 altered to allow for placement of the soccer field. He indicated the spaces lost could be made up
I 1 by moving the shelter building.
12 • asked if the northern portion of the park would be maintained and mowed or if it could be turned
13 into a prairie. Mr. Kost indicated this could be addressed with the Commission and School
14 District before a decision was made.
15 • asked how long it would be before the soccer fields would be completed. Zurbey indicated it
16 would be approximately one to two years before the fields would be ready for use. He indicated
17 the sports boosters would be responsible for finding replacement fields during this time.
I8 • asked if the park would be seeded or sodded. Mr. Kost indicated several areas would be sodded
19 for erosion control, but indicated the majority of the park would be seeded.
20 IV. OTHER BUSINESS.
21 None.
22 V. ADJOURNMENT.
23 Motion by Koehntop, second by Hallada, to adjourn the meeting to the regular Park Commission
24 meeting at 7:22 p.m.
25 Respectfully submitted,
26 Heidi Guenther
27 TimeSaver Off Site Secretarial, Inc.
