Parks Commission Meeting Minutes
April 12, 1999
Page 3
t accessed. He added that the new final cost represents only an approximate 6% increase.
3 Jindra thanked Kost and Wong for their input and attendance.
5 VI. SILVER POINT PARK UPDATE.
6 Jindra welcomed Todd Hubmer, WSB, Inc., and invited him to address the Commission.
7 Hubmer asked whether the Commissioners had received a copy of the Construction Review. All
8 the Commissioners had received the Review. He stated that the contractors in Silver Point Park
9 are completing the formation of side slopes and grading work, and the park is draining better
10 than expected. He added grading will be finished and the trail cutting will be started by next
11 week, and seeding or sodding will take place in May.
12
13 Hubmer stated that construction on Roselle Drive and the parking lot had started, and should be
14 completed by the end of April if weather permits.
15
16 Louiselle asked whether issues had been resolved with regard to residents on Roselle Drive.
17 Hubmer stated a meeting was scheduled with the residents for April 13, 1999 to discuss some
18 vibration issues that arose as a result of construction, and some health concerns for the residents.
19
20 Jindra asked whether the playground equipment for the park would have to be rebid. Hubmer
1 stated that it would not be rebid, and the Commission should determine the appropriate
22 equipment and vendor which he would then communicate to the contractor.
23
24 Jindra asked whether the hockey area will remain. Hubmer stated there is room for a hockey rink
25 and no changes are planned. Hartman stated that Hubmer is considering various rink systems as
26 the rink is labor intensive and wood structures do not last.
27
28 Hubmer confirmed that the overall park construction is going well and on schedule, and the play
29 equipment will be installed this summer. Hartman stated there had been some discussion about
30 storing the equipment until the park as a whole is ready. Hubmer stated the park will be ready
31 for all activities but organized recreational sports by June or July. Jindra asked whether a fence
32 would be installed to prevent people from walking on the grass. Hubmer stated there will not be
33 a fence but a sign could be utilized.
34
35 Jindra asked whether a completion date has been estimated for the Harding area holding pond.
36 Hubmer stated the first public meeting regarding that pond will be held at the end of April.
37
38 Kosciolek asked for the budgeted amount of the play equipment. Hubmer stated the amount is
39 $40,000 which should be adequate for what the Commission is planning.
40
41 Jindra reviewed a letter to the Commission from Don and Diane Skrivseth and family, 2815
2 Silver Lake Road, which raises issues and concerns with regard to Silver Point Park. She stated
43 the family's concerns are justified and asked Hubmer to address them.
44
