Parks Commission Meeting Minutes
September 9, 2002
Page 5
issues on this field as on the varsity field.
3 Commissioner Jensen stated there was water on the field between the pitchers mound and third
4 base/second base. Commissioner Ganley asked if there was any type of vine that could be grown
5 along the fence of the field. He also asked if there would be a batters eye on the field. Mr.
6 Koechlein stated that there would be one about fifteen feet high above the fence line for glare
7 from the parking lot.
8
9 Chair Jindra stated things needed to be worked out and someone needed to be there and make
10 sure things were done correct and she asked if Mr. Anderson would handle this.
11
12 Mr. Zurbey asked what their ability to make sure this happened correctly without all the funds
13 going out and having it done incorrectly. Mr. Koechlein stated the City had not signed off on the
14 project yet and the Developer had not received all the money yet.
15
16 Chair Jindra stated she would like Mr. Koechlein to check into all this because the Commission
17 was kind of nervous about getting this project done.
18
19 Mr. Anderson stated the City Council signs off on the project funds and if the Commission is not
20 happy with the results, the City Council will not pay the money.
22 Mr. Zurbey stated the soccer fields had broken glass on it and it was supposed to be topsoil with
23 seeding. And another issue was the sewer. Mr. Koechlein stated the sewer would need to be
24 fixed because of the erosion around it.
25
26 Mr. Dunn stated Mr. Wong had worked up some cost estimates on this and also the trail and
27 would get these amounts to him. He stated they could pose these as health and safety issues. He
28 stated they could talk to Sherry _ regarding their ability to look at them as health and safety
29 issues. He stated the cost would be about $65,000 for sewer repair and if it were not health and
30 safety issue related, this would be a problem.
31
32 Chair Jindra stated she thought there should be another solution because $65,000 was a lot of
33 money. Mr. Anderson stated they could not think of a cheaper solution because they needed the
34 water to drain.
35
36 Mr. Zurbey stated he would like to see who was responsible for what so there would not so much
37 confusion. Commissioner Jensen stated Mr. Wong showed them a map of the area that the
38 property would be graded so it could be seeded and maintained properly.
39
40 Mr. Zurbey stated he was concerned with the drainage in the southeast comer of the football
41 field. He stated they needed to make sure this was contoured there for proper drainage.
42
4_ Chair Jindra stated it looked like everything was draining to that area and asked if it was
44 supposed to do so. Mr. Koechlein stated he believed the catch basin would need to be cleaned.
45
